Parking Brake

I just purchased a new home and the driveway is quite steep. I'm concerned about the parking brake. The car is a 6 speed and does anyone know how to adjust it?

The dealer adjusted mine at no cost--originally mine was very weak. Now, it hold like a champ.

I'd take it to the dealer unless you're mechanically inclined. The brake needs to be adjusted (physically adjust the shoe position with the wheels off) and then the cable that connects to the handle. Do a search -- sometime over the last month or so Jens H posted a nice summary on how to do it yourself (or you can check the Helm manual).

If you don't trust the brake either have the dealer adjust it or do like me and park the car in gear

Under the center console there should be bolts to tighten the cable. I use to tighten my GSR on my own. Have the dealer do it if your not comfortable.

It needs to be adjusted here and at the brake assembly itself. The wheels need to come off to properly adjust it.

I watched an Acura Tech. do it and he just tightened the bolts under the center console. The cable stretches, so you just tighten it up. Note: this was on my GSR.

Mine was exactly the same and was fixed by the dealer under warranty...

I'm having mine done too at the 1st oil change. And the sunroof. Maybe throw the CT Supercharger in, too. In my dreams.

I believe you can tighten it up (adjust it) by backing up slowly and applying the parking brake. Someone confirm this though . Always put the car into 1st gear or reverse after you apply the parking brake
