Painting the keyhole?

I thought there would be an easy solution like a cap on ebay, but to no avail. I'm blacking out the car and these stupid keyholes stand out now. TL guys are lucky, the dealer sells caps. I never have to use my keyhole, but can I just paint it w/ some spray paint without damaging the mechanism just in case i do need it that one day?

I don't believe it will damage it at all. The only issue is really getting the paint to stick and the fact that once you do use it I'm sure the paint will chip off easily.

Use some of that vinyl window trim used to black out the chrome trim pieces and stick it in the hole and cut it to fit?

it might chip if i use the keyhole, which i never do. and it's on the side, i can't imagine it chipping. i've spray painted bumpers/grills with no chipping so i really doubt this will chip that badly. i have to take the cylinder out to change to the 03 handles, so ill give it a quick sand, and spray it while the door handle is out.

I used that blackout tape once on my window trim. It works best on flat areas.
I think paint is best.

Sun Diego painted his door handles to match the body color. I was thinking about body matching my door handles, chrome accents, and the rear Acura symbol as well. The shop working on my car is going to body match the front grill and the '03 bumper inserts.

It looks pretty of what he did.

i wanna see what that tape looks like. if it looks good, it's a cheaper alternative than having it done at a paint shop. and thanks, GM.

i plan to get the whole car repainted sometime next year, so the tape will have to do until then. i wanted to try to buy the trim and get it painted, then i would install it myself, but i encountered 2 problems: 1) cant find the trim part # online, can anyone else? 2) it looks like a pain in the ass to install

Here is what I used. Don't have any pics, but it doesn't look half bad. I only got it done on one side, just cause I haven't had the time to do the other side. I was also considering painting with trim paint, but was affraid of messing it up and could also not figure out the part numbers online.

get some real tape, 3M is the only way to go, not this 1980s junk that was laying in some distributors basement. fyi, our chrome trim is about 1/2" wide. and 3m sells 1/2" wide black vinyl.
