I searched and could only find some links to painting the grille. There is a photo of somebody with a white CL who painted the emblems black but no word on how. If I wanted to paint my emblems Anthracite how do you recommend doing it? I saw someone who just used touch-up paint and it looked kind of ghetto close up.

Thanks.

Pull them all off, rough them up a little with ScotchBrite, degrease, stick them to some cardboard, and spray paint them with suitable paint.

Funny this pops up today, I just pulled mine off (which was painted when I bought the car) and the emblem is laying in paint thinner right now. Gotta re-paint it tomorrow.

Can plastic be powdercoated? If so, I think it would look awesome. I'm just going to spray mine most likely, a couple coats and maybe a clear coat on top.

Thanks for the replies. What do you use to re-attach the emblems and what if I'd like to paint them Anthracite... just use the touch-up paint?

There is a white CL with black emblems. I searched for 'painted emblems' and it was in one of those threads.

Quote: Keep the '01 grille, but disassemble it and paint the background for the "A" red.

I'm not sure how this would look on anything but an SMR, but I like it.

Quote: Not bad. I took the grill out, completely disassembled the whole thing and sanded the centerpiece (220 down to 400), then masked it all off except for the oval. I used dupli color, priming first and then a couple of coats of color. Took a couple of hours.

It's been 6 months and it is chipping a little bit now from road debris, but I'd do it again. The hardest part was finding anyone who carries the SMR spray touchup paint.
seems like the best way from what ive read. looks good too.

I have the rear OEM black chrome (/\) emblem for my trunk. Haven't put it on yet though.

It appears smaller, so I hope the holes line up. Anyone know for sure?

I agree, on a white car, black/black chrome would look money. Here is what the black chrome looks like, hard to tell though (courtesy of Phrosttz0):

I found this place selling Acura touch-up paint in a spray can:

http://www.repaintsupply.com/

So if I peel my emblems off what to use to re-attach?

My Bad... I didnt realize that they were plastic. I found a black chrome set on ebay, but its only for the TLs and doesnt have quite the same footprint as ours.

Some people might want to check this thread out in the 3rd Gen TL forums.

I saw those as well. Too bad Acura didn't produce them for the CLs.

When I do my emblems in Anthracite I'll post a picture for everybody.
