painted calipers

What do you guys think red painted calipers would look like on a satin silver cl-s? Thoughts?

Gimmie an R!
Gimmie an I!
Gimmie a C!
Gimmie an E!
What does it spell? RICE!
What in the name of God almighty is the point of painting calipers? Why do you want people looking at them? Leave them the color they are. They are already more visible tham most cars with the stock rims.

Too many dorky looking Civics and Integras do that. I'll never understand.

Maybe its rice, maybe not.

Here is my esoteric contemplation on the matter:

Painting would make the calipers look better and wouldn't make the brakes function better; so that sounds rice.

On the other hand, painting the calipers might make the calipers shed dust better and clean up better. So that would be useful.

I think for something to be rice, it usually means that a modification is purely cosmetic, but has no useful purpose and may actually degrade the performance or style of the car.

A big part of the rice determination seems to be a shared aesthetic judgment. If a cosmetic change actually looks good or has an element of utility that is easily understood, then it seems to fall outside the bounds of rice.

Putting multiple coats of Zaino on your car could be considered rice, but generally isn't. Painting all the car's chrome parts the color of the body would probably be universally judged to be ricey.

In this case, I think our silver colored calipers are just not cool. To me, there are too many different colors of silver going on with the CL - around the wheels especially. If you've got a silver car it's even worse: Two tone silver wheels, silver rotors, silver chrome trim and door handles all on top of a satin silver car?

I say: "Paint'em black . . .and it's NOT rice."

Painting the calipers would not be "rice" since people have been painting calipers way before "rice" existed. now painting them neon colors or hot pink, thats rice.

I think black is tight. But, what kind of paint and what's the best way to do it? Anyone in the bay area want to get together and do this as a project one saturday?

i also want to know how it's rice since it's something ferrari, porsche, and other manufacturers have been doing for years. I personally wouldn't go red because it's to flashy, maybe if we had some porsceh TT brakes though. But i'm gonna do black soon.

I think BLACK would be OK.

RED on a Silver car......NO.

Unless it's a Ferrari, Lamborghini or something like that I think it would look BAD.
