p2r clutch

saw that p2r makes a 6puck clutch for us. $180 is not bad. i knwo its not the whole set up, but i REALLY need a clutch badly. so i was planning on picking it up and doing some before and after dyno runs of some diff mods that i have.

that depending on how my fly wheel and pressure plate look like.

anyone running that clutch disk?

I will bet $ that it's designed for the other stock components, As i have read up that the stock system is quite adequate for our CL's when it comes to gripping power (pressure plate)

but the longevity of the clutch itself is what needs to be revamped. Hence why P2R was SO kinda to design this... WHAT A GREAT CHEAP way to get something important done on our cars...

a rare thing.

Rajca... omfg man i cannot believe u were behind the ball on that!?!?! u never are out of the LOOP, even i knew that like 2 months ago and i got auto LOL..

better late than never though :-)

gunna have to disagree. the self adjusting pressure plate has good clamping force for a lightly modded car but it will cause slip like jelly under high boost

Do you speak from experience? I was putting down 380whp and I was on it all the time. I didnt have issues with clutch slippage. I ran boost for about 1 year with my stock clutch and it held up very well for stock. Im sure it had a little slippage but nothing like what you discribe "like jelly" lol... maybe with 10-15 pounds of turbo boost.

How many miles did you put on it?

I spoke with someone that had a turbo'd J32A2 Accord running the stock CL clutch. After about 15k miles it started to slip. That was with low boost (I think he said 5-7psi).

Aside from the stock flywheel being a pain in the ass, the pressure plate just doesnt apply much clamping force. When that happens, the disk starts to glaze and cause more slippage.

And yes, the P2R clutch disk is for stock pp and flywheel. Sean at P2R runs it in his Accord.

lol, i'm sure it has to do with driving style too... Some people like to shift it in gear quickly (only smooth if ur revs are right), others slowly clutch it to make it smoother. My guess is the LONGER u take in between touching the clutch and letting go of it, the more ur messing the clutch up since it doesn't have full pressure on it so u get the glazing earlier i presume

Ask P2R themselves... they'll give you the best answer.....

i just texted P2R about a minute ago and he said the clutch will work fine with the stock pressure plate and flywheel.... He said that what it was meant for....

Quick note, my CM setup FINALLY arrived yesturday (waited a month for it). It came with the revised flywheel. The earlier kits had ring gear issues (wrong tooth count).

It goes in next week, Ill post reviews.

also rajca just be careful with the clutch you want with it being a solid disk, cause of higher chances of breaking the drivetrain, but it should be real nice for a track only car with it being more responsive

Is it true that if you are useing a light weight crank pulley you cant use a light weight flywheel with it. It causes problems for the crank censor right?

if any thing it might start seeing (the ecu) a P0300 code which is random misfire, due to the engine be able to slow down too much between each firing of a cylinder

^nope.

ppl that have a light weigh crank pulley cant run the comptech flywheel, and vice versa. the comptech flywheel disintegrates bc of little to no damnpning (sp?) only heard of that problem with teh comptech flywheel, nothing about the cm kit. seems cm is the way to go

Yea, that issue was from the CT setup.

Alot of people said CM uses the AASCO flywheel, but when I spoke with Luis at CM, he said everything is made in house. Maybe AASCO uses the CM flywheel? He said there was an issue with the flywheels in the older kits and thats why mine was on back order. He wouldnt tell me what the issue was, but I found out from other people that the old flywheel ring gear was 122 teeth and 12", while it should be 123 teeth and 12.25". The kit I have is the correct size.

The flywheel itself weighs 15lbs. The clutch and PP is about 17lbs. Ill weigh the stock setup when its out.

Good to know, I was having second thoughts about installing my LW pulley because I was going to have issues with a LW flywheel. Nothing to worrie about i guess.

It's not specifically the CM flywheel that has a problem. It was the OEM pressure plate that is still used that seemed to fail when using both the CM flywheen and the UR/lightweight pulley.

The Clutch Masters pressure plate sounds like it holds up better against the lessened dampening.

The Gator axles I got were put in in Sept or Aug...can't remember. So far so good. Went to the track and they held up fine

Civic, how much did the CM setup set you back if you dont mind me asking? That's the next thing I need to get is a clutch setup before I add more boost. Still on OEM
