Own3d by a Pothole

Earlier this evening I ran to the pharmacy for just a little thing, and on my way home BOOM I hit this huge ass pothole that was covered in a nice layer of dirt/snow/mud/slush/ice/shit so that I couldn't see it until it was too late. My tire went flat real quick, so I have the donut on now and it's sitting in my parking lot waiting to get fixed. My alignment is all fux0red too, so I'm going to bring it over to the auto place on Friday to see what they can do about that and getting me a new tire. I have snow tires on now, and have summer tires waiting for me at home. I'm going home in two weeks for spring break, is there anyway I could get from school to home (~5 hour drive) without spending hte $200 on a new snow tire? I was thinking maybe I could get a really cheap tire, like the 50 dollar ones on TireRack, same size, and just throw it on there for the ride home. Then toss my summer tires on once I got back. Would I run into any problems with that? I'm afraid my rim might be bent too.......God Bless the Mt. Morris DPW, I guess with all three streets they have to maintain, they are really busy TIA Guys

That sucks. Report it to the township. If it was reported and they never fixed it, the town may pay you back for the damages.

I went through 4 tires like that in 3 years.

look on the bright side, at least your didnt crack/ruin your bumper and tire and wheel. I dont see what would go wrong w/ the $50 tire as long as its the same size.

Yeah, I destroyed a tire last week in the same way.

My tires are all worn out, though. I was going to replace them, anyway.

search the Blackmarket... you can always find someone getting rid of tires.

Thanks for your suggestions guys. I am reasonably certain I have got the contractor who made the pothole to pay for the damages (waiting for the final confirmation now) so I'm just gonna go ahead and get a brand new tire the same brand. I have Nokian NRW 225/45 R17 on there now, and those are discontinued. The guy at teh shop I talked to today told me that he suggests getting the replacement, called the Nokian WR, in the same size. Would I run into any long term problems if I ran on three NRW's and a WR? Thanks guys

It's a Finnish tire company that specializes in snow tires, not very common I guess. The guy I talked to ordered the WR, but said he didn't know the specific differences. He was going to take a look and compare it to my tires to see if he thought it would be okay to mix and match, and I went with it figuring I'd post here to see if riding on different tires indefinately raised any red flags for anyone.
