Outside Temperature Gauge reads ---

I just bought a 2001 CL. I love this car, but I have a little OCD and need everything to work, not make noise, be in factory order, etc. My outside temp gauge reads "---". I tried the reset procedure as documented in a couple of threads on here and I saw the -3 to 3 appear, but then it went right back to "---". Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

Sounds like a bad temp sensor. It's located in the lower grill. You need to take the plastic lining under the front of the hood off to access it. Could also be a bad connection.
