yes
they slap on a shitload of stickers/advertisements on your car, and they make some kinda contract that they will pay you or pay your car payments.
i know this one online place will slap a FULL car sticker thing on your car, and in return pay all your car payments so long as it's on

If a fix up place is going to sponsor you, basically they will fix up your car for free. All you have to do is drive around and advertise for them. CL's don't get much of that though...

Yeah sorry, forgot to mention that too. Sometimes they will offer you things like....You pay for the parts at a discount or at cost, and they will take care of all installation costs. If you can honestly get someone to sponsor your car and do not mind all the stickers and stuff (you might have to do shows too), and want to fix up your car...then go for it!

Sponsorship terms are different with every company. Some give you parts at cost, some give you free labor, some give you free product. I will NEVER slap any sponsorship stickers on my CL. I have a local shop that sponsors all my fabrication, in return I allow the use of my car in his exibit booths at trade shows, or local car shows. Most people I know like the sponsorship stickers on their car pretty much to show off it's a desirable vehicle. One of my friends in particular will slap a sticker on his car if a company were to give him $5 off...he just likes the look of sponsorship stickers.
I have a coupe friends who have built entire vehicles on sponsors. One with a orange focus wagon, one with a PT cruiser, one with a 2000 Celica, one with a Hyundai. Once you get in with a vendor that will show your car at SEMA, sponsors will line up to give you free products. Also, most sponsors like to see a previous vehicle that's received a lot of exposure, so they know that you're serious about things. Some contracts are really strict some are pretty easy going.

4pumpedCL: How do you go about getting a sponsor in the first place? Is it something us "mere mortals" can aspire to? Or is it all about having the right friends?
