Option pulley finally installed!

I had my 105k service done Monday. So happy its done for my piece of mind. The belt didn't look bad except a little glazing. I had it done at the dealer, but by a mechanic I know that works there after hours. I bought all the parts beforehand. I brought him the valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals, but he said the valves sounded fine and you shouldn't really mess with them unless the need it. I think my engine is loud but have read that these motors can be noisy. He said there was another CL-S 6 that was in there last week with headers and a few other aftermarket parts too. Anyone else here been to Sussman Acura in Jenkintown recently?

Anyway, he installed the Option Pulley for me and said it was a perfect fit and the belts were perfect. I can feel the difference. It revs faster and feels like there is less drag when accelerating. Not a HUGE improvement but definitely an improvement. For the $28 or so it was shipped, well worth it.

Glad to hear all is well with your cl.. mine has the ticking sound as well.. ive had a integra before and had the same exact sound. I did a valve lash to the integra and the ticking went away.. i hope valve lash is as easy as a b18 motor. BTW im at 117500 when it gets warmer i will do a valve lash.

Sussman isn't really that big. I think they were bigger on easton road in roslyn/willow grove. Not that many cars there. I worked at Montgomeryville about 8 years ago. Well I worked for a detail company that had the shop/contract at the dealership. I remember when the Cl's were still new...and way out of my reach. I called them the other day for navigation codes and the girl was very helpful. The codes Sussman pulled for me were no good. The girl at montgomeryville said she new a little trick to get it to throw different numbers and it worked. Something about leaving a digit or two out of the serial number.

And I apologize...valve lash? I'm not familiar. Another term for valve adjustment?

No there are special sized belts, because the pulley is a different size. I believe it is the same size that Unorthodox Racing recommends for their underdrive pulleys. Check their site.

OEM belts for the CL-S will not work with the option pulley. You need Gates K040425 and Gates K060441.

You need at least a breaker bar to install pulleys. An impact wrench, a second buddy, and some basic tools works too.

2Fast4you--- Do you mean to install the crank pulley? If you do, then you'll need (this is what I used) crank pulley tool, 25" breaker bar, 2 extensions, and a jack stand for support on the extensions. And no its not harder than installing headers, its fairly easy

Oh and BTW, the person you bought the car from asked me to borrow the crank pulley tool and I was going to ship it to him. I guess he sold the car before he got around to it

Does any one have a crank pulley tool I could buy from them second hand?

I have a jack stand, small breaker bar, and a 1/2" impact wrench. is that enough to get the thing off with the pulley tool?

If you have an impact(air) tools then you might not need the pulley tool

I heard the "tool" was crucial in getting off that bugger, unless the impact wrench is super heavy duty. > 3/4" or, > 1000 ft lbs of torque.

unbolt the p.s. pump and that will loosen one of the belts. you also need to loosen the alt. belt

my impact wrench is only 1/2 inch. you think I have a good chance of getting it off still. Would my chances increase with the pulley tool. Also, how do i access the pulley. I looked with the wheel off, and it looked like i didnt have access through the wheel well.

You can't see it just by taking the wheel off. Its hidden behind the fender well/lining. Keep looking......its there lol
