Same crazy crap I ran into this week with my '03 CL-S at 72,400 miles.
I lost passing gear, then 4th and 2nd gears, scary driving in rush hour with that crap happening.
They are replacing the tranny under warranty.
Good luck.

03's werent included in the extended warrenty. but that may not mean your SOL. call acura headquarters, go to a dif acuara dealer. or just drop your pants and take a shit right there in front of the gentleman who denied you.

I think it's pretty lame that they didn't include 03's in the recall. I mean did they really change anything major in the tranny?

Just talk with the service manager and the owner of that particular dealer (if you can get ahold of him) at the same time. Tell them the situation and that Acura has been having known tranny problems since 97 to 03 and that even though yours is not covered, you want to know what they can do for you. Tell them that you think its not fair that all of the V6 trannies that were made during those years were poorly designed and almost all of them self detonated after some amount of miles.

There have been dealer goodwill replacements so if you try, you might be able to get it done. Try another dealer as said and don't give up. There might be a dealer in your area which will "honor" the original warranty on all 2nd gen CL/TL.

I have found that calling Acura HQ doesn't resolve anything. I tried calling them with some concerns and they just pretty much told me to STFU in not so harsh language. However, see what they can do. Call them up and talk with them. Doesn't hurt to lose 20 min of your life if you are trying to save your hard earned cash money.

If all else fails, sell the car buy a 6mt and live happily ever after.* Or start another class action lawsuit for the 03's that were left out.** Or go crazy and burn down the dealer.***

*less the cost to replace the clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate
**This may become more expensive than just the tranny rebuild
***I DO NOT recommend this at all! Haha

Please dont think that I'm trying to mock you with your misfortune. It happened to me in my 99 3.0CL that I had so I know what you are going through.

BTW, check your pm's in a little bit. You might have a better way out of it.

You still should have called Acura directly & complained. You should still do it. And I MEAN COMPLAIN! You really shouldn't have to pay anything. Your 19. The dealers think you don't know anything & screw you.

Just call Acura HQ and talk with them. This is their fuck up so they should fix it and pay full cost.

What I don't understand is that the later 03 TL/CL with the "updated" transmissions still fail the exact same way as the transmissions from the 99-02's with the 3rd gear clutch packs failing, or the 2nd gear overheating aren't included in the warranty?

Its the same exact problem happening with EVERY tranny regardless of year. 03 Transmissions still fail, and they fail the same way every other tranny fails on these cars so they should be included.
