Question Opinions on bodykit please!

Well, I'm tired of repainting the front spoiler for the Versus kit. It's almost an annual thing despite me driving as carefully as possible. But, it takes one hurried driving on a new road with uneven pavement and bam...back to square one: repaint.

And really steep parking lots own me. Anyhow, thinking of doing some surgery on the front.

Here is the car's look currently:

Here is what I'm thinkin of doing:

Special thank-you to sonnyg80 for doing the PSing.

Anyhow, opinions would be really appreciated! Thanks!

I like the second one the best. Hopefully that will reduce rubbing.

really doesnt look too bad. IMO the complete one looks a bit bulky, so even in practical matters besides the looks of anything, i say it works for you...do it.

I've read that front piece is re-enforcing. If you remove it the lip becomes very flexible.

Maybe if you sand the sides up after you cut the center piece out .. They look like wings that are pointing down on the second pic.

Sanding/cutting them might make it look more like a lip kit?

I Thought I Was The Only Daring One. I Have The Same Kit On My Whip And Due To Excess Hitting The Road My Middle Piece Became Flimsy And Eventually I Gave It The Haircut In Question. My Front Bumbper Is In Dire Need Of Repainting Due To My Car Being So Low. I Guess That Part Of The Price For Being Slammed.

looks horrible. look into custom fitting a TL front, you will have better clearance.

check out my car, or kyle's for good examples of the 2 diff TL lips on the CL.

Yummy you should ask rondog about doing the conversion. He did what your thinking about before he developed his own kit.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151568

Personally it doesn't look that bad and you already have the kit

i think u should just purchase the rondog front lip. his sides/rear are very similar to the versus kit so the lines should flow smoothly.

Thanks for the opinions, everyone!

To the ones opposed...what if I also shaved off the SIDES of the front lip a bit? So, that it does not look so...toothy?

That's what I suggested .. Might be cheaper than getting a whole new front end, not sure though ..

Honest opinion, I think it looks ricey. The outer sides of the bumper remind me of the older black widow kits (I'm not 100% if that's the kit, but there is a kit that has the same look to it from back in the day when body kits were popular).

To get a whole new front lip would be much pricier than a repaint and asking the shop to literally saw off one piece and perhaps do some shaving to the sides.

Well, although the opinions are not unanimous, there are some who aren't opposed to the lower-lip removal. I'll call the bodyshop to see how much we're talking about.

how much does it usually cost to fabricate a lip or to do what yumchah wants to do...i've been thinking about getting the TL front lip and getting it fitted but now seeing this kit i dunno...but imo it looks alot like a snow plow a little too much...but if anyone has done this how much are we talking about for custom fitting... $100 - $500 or way more?

this is just a quick estimate of what it cost. i know a little about doing these yourself.
lip $150-200
glue & prep $160
bondo $40
sand paper $20
duct tape & misc $15
dremel & wheels $60
and a whole bunch of your free time

nice tools that help but are not necessary
glue gun $50
orbital sander $35

if you want to have a shop custom fit this you better take your checkbook and bottle of lube. the manhours it requires for the fitting kills you. and the shop is going to want to make money so my estimate would be $400 for shop labor.

hey yum, since your car is silver, here's a couple pics of an SSM CL with the TL front lip and versus sides/rear. kyle's car above is a bit dark so you can't see the lines of the car so well; hopefully this helps with your decision. (i, too, think the versus front lip is a bit dated)

kyle, brian: Thanks for the pics!

Is a TL-lip expensive to get from the dealership?
