Opinion Needed

I just got my 01 CL a couple days ago for a really good deal from a private owner. The car is currently at 35K and I'm planning to do a tranny fluid change myself. I'm mechanically incline so these thing is not a problem. The only thing is that I've been reading that there are alot Tranny failure and currently freaking out . Should I take it to the dealer to do a Tranny fluid change ?? Incase, the tranny go bad and I can blame it on them?? Also, if the tranny died does Acura Replace it for free since it's a defect??? PLEASE Help! I'm so new at this. Thanks

acura has 100k mile warranty on the tranny.

Personally, i wouldnt change the fluid myself. Its one less thing the dealer can deny for warranty work later on. If you want then i'd say let the dealer do the tranny flush

Thanks alot for the quick replied. So the 100K warranty is standard right?? My car right now still have 3 more months of warranty. I was planning to buy extended warranty for the tranny since its so bad. But I feel better now knowing they it come with 100k warranty.

Would a tranny cooler upgrade help extend the life of a tranny?

To clarify, your car did not originally come with a 100k mile warranty on the tranny. But after many tranny failures (and possible forced recall) Acura extended the warranties to cover the effected trannies in the 01-02 models.

I wouldn't touch a thing with the tranny and have the dealer do it all. They can check it over to see if it is shredding bits when they change the fluid. Good luck.

If you had read here first you may have been alerted to the tranny issues, but most still have a great experience with their CLs. Enjoy yours.
Did you get a CLS or a CLP, what color, Navi? that's about the only option.

Thanks for the help everyone. I just got a regular 3.2 CL not type S, Silver, black leather and no nav. The car is still very well equiped and I like it alot. I still got about 3months of basic and other warranties left. Any Opinion on service or other thing that I can make the dealer do before my warranty is out???
