I might be caving into my first mod even though I am leasing and I don't want to spend $ on mods for this car but I might just opt for a short Ram. Reason being it is an easy install and little to no HP loss over the full intake. Plus I don't have to worry about hydro lock. So my quetion is........I went over to autocarparts.com and looked for the short ram kits for my 01 cls. AEM and INJEN both say WILL NOT FIT TYPE S. I know that people have short rams though. What am I looking at wrong? Is weapon R the only short ram that fits the TYPE S? Help me out please. Thanks

You can always get the full intake that is a two piece and then just use the upper part of the pipe. Good luck with your first mod!

 

Yeah I thought about that but what is the piont then. If I were to do that I would just install the entire CAI. It is more about $ savings and convienence than laziness. I wouldn't mind the install but I would rather have cheaper, no hydro lock, and easy install before an extra 1 HP from the CAI. But I think the weapon R short ram is like $170 anyway so I might as well just get the entire CAI kit

 

I have one in the Black Market that you can use as a short RAM.
