Oil pan stripped - dealer put in oversized plug
I've read several posts somewhat related to this topic. I want to add a fumoto type oil plug but my dealer stripped out my pan and already put in an oversized plug. So now I think I need a M14.5 - 1.50 (instead of a M14-1.50) plug. I can't find any plug in a M14.5 size that lets you drain the oil without removing it. The dealer said that my pan looked like it had 2-3 oil changes left on the oversized hole (it has been a years since they put in the oversized plug). They want $500 for a new pan. I would like any fix that lets me add a plug where I either drain the oil through the center of it or turn a valve. Thanks for any input.

The oil pan is $73 online, $98 list price. The part number is 11200-PGE-A00
You can swap out the pan in about an hour. Then you can get the drain plug you want.

It is more involved than just removing the pan, right? I thought there were lots of other parts that also had to be removed to get the pan off. I'm far from a shady tree mechanic.

Where in VA are you?
It's not that difficult. Just unbolt and install the new one. You would need the torque specs for it.

I live in Richmond. I thought in other threads I read that the exhaust manifold or something else had to be removed to get the pan off. Bolts breaking off were also a problem.

Ok, here is a question. I now have an oversized hole of M14.5 -1.5. Is there anyway I can use JB Weld or some other product to permanently seal the fumato M14 plug into my oversized oil drail hole????? This would fix my problem without replacing the pan. If I still had the oem hole and if they said I had 2-3 oil changes left in the thread I would get the fumoto valve and be set.

JB Weld can work. Alot of people use it for turbo oil lines. But to get a good seal you still need to drop the pan. So why not replace it if it's already fubar'd?
And let me guess, you took it to Crown?

Yes, I went to Crown (recently raised their oil change prices $5 to $39.95). But before that I went to Pohanka when I live in Fairfax. Pohanka screwed it up the first time and admitted they screwed it up. They told me they fixed it but did not tell me it was a temporary fix. I should have pressed the issue more at that time.
So to drop the oil pan I need remove a lot of other stuff????

I'll think about what I'm going to do. Thanks for the offer to help. I have some tools but nothing really auto related except a torque wrench and oil filter wrench. I live off Robious Road -near James River High School and 288. My neighbors have some relatives that have modified Integras (nitro etc) so I might ask their opinions. I'm kind of cheap and sinking $500 into something like this eats at me. I mean if it was a timing belt or brake job I could deal with it but a stripped thread.
The good news is that it is not leaking so I have time to think about what I'm going to do.

Ok. It won't cost anywhere near $500 though. Just let me know what you plan on doing. I can help you out if you want. Im actually about 15 minutes away from you.

At this point I do it strictly for the convenience. In the end I spend about $10 extra to not deal with the waste oil which for me is about an hour round trip to dispose of properly (it's only like 5 minutes to the playground but I already explained that).

Personally, I do it because dealing with the waste oil is a pain in the ass. I've buried as much of it as I can in the sandbox down at the playground, it's turned the sand all black and molasses like.

playground! Makes sense. I hate getting rid of my oil but I don't take it to the dealership close by because the ONLY use Castrol (non-synthetic) and charge $$$ like crazy

I can hit the nearest Jiffy Lube with a rock from the parking lot of the dealership. To be honest, I don't pay much at the dealership either since I worked there for 4 years and am pretty tight with the techs. In fact I don't call the dealer at all, I just call my tech on his cell and we pull the car in after the service manager goes home
I pay less than I should and the tech makes more than he would have and the g-man doesn't get his cut.
I also bring my own Mobil 1 filter and oil.
