Exclamation Oil Change

I was going to change my own oil today, but ran into a few problems. I know some of you guys change your own oil. First off, where should I put the jack stands. I had them on the sub-frame and it gave me hardly any room to work. Second, the last people who changed the oil torqued the drain bolt on so tight I couldn't budge it. Any help would be great.

I usually jack up under the front of the car (lifting both wheels off the ground) than put the stands under the front jacking points (theyre kind of hard to miss, but u can consult your manual)

As for the plug... a nice breaker bar should do the trick...

I usually cock my wheels to the left also (makes it easier to get to the filter)

I usually just jack the car up a couple inches from behind the passenger wheel (wheel still touching the ground) and turn the wheel all the way to the right. You can change the filter and drain the oil without having to actually get under the car... They're both within arms reach of the passenger side wheel.

Don't even need to get the car up high enough for a jack stand... If you look behind the passenger side wheel, theres a jack point about in line with where the mirror is. I just pump the jack a couple times cuz my car is lowered. Turn your wheels to the right and look in from in front of the passenger wheel, you'll see the filter... The drain plug isn't much further.

I tried it today, but like I said the drain bolt was torqued on, so tomorrow after work I will finish the task. I just hope that the filter isn't as tight as the bolt. I'm going to bring out the breaker bar and hopefuly be finished in 10min.

I don't even need to jack my car up, but my car stock height. If the drain plug is so tight, put the wrench on it and hit it with a rubber hammer a few times. Breaks it lose right away.

Oh, and always use a new crush washer.

Honda. Just ask for the drain plug washer. They'll most likely just give you handful for free.

No need to get under it. Cut the wheel all the way to the right. Loosen drain plug. Slide oil pan underneath. Remove drain plug. Remove filter. Let drain.

It also helps to have long arms and be 150lbs

How do you unscrew drain plug, you get to it through the space you get by turning the wheel all the way to the right?

Yea. With the wheel turned to the right, my shoulder and arm can go under the car somewhat. I can reach the drain plug with a ratchet. I can still get the torque wrench under there too.

I used to work at an oil change spot, so I am used to tight spaces (try getting the oil filter on an RSX while the exhaust header is piping hot).

I am going to have to try it, i was thinking of getting ramps, but I am concerned about not getting all oil out under the angle, and also would freak out if car crashes on me.

Im lucky i have an actual shop that i take my car to and do all the work on my own. never had to jack up my car, always had a hydraulic lift. Just remember to lube the new filter around the lip and fill the new filter half way with oil

I just put a jack stand up on the right side on the jacking points. Turn the wheel all the way to the right. You can get a package of crush washers from Autozone or the like. I think they're 14mm washers, but can't remember.
