are oil catch cans worth it?

i've noticed quite a few cars (boosted and n/a) are installing universal catch cans. can anyone tell the benefits, if any, do they offer? and is it worth getting?

Boosted, yes. The benefit is it catches the crankcase oil, gases caused by "blow by" with extra pressure when in boost, something in that nature.

There is really no need to do this on your car, unless your boosted. And there are certain diagrams that explain how to do this correctly in order to get any use out of the catch can. I can give you a 15 page link on catch cans if you're interested and how to set one up, but it is mostly for B and D series Honda engines.

i saw the baddest catch can ever a few weeks ago. two aluminum beer bottles put together. one had a nipple for the oil line in the cap. then it had a aluminum line welded in running from the first bottle to the second bottle. the second bottle had a pitcock inserted in it. i will be building one of these for my s13.

I hope you mean B and H series moters and not D series, if anyone wastes their money turbo charging a D series moter they should just lose that money

i've seen 2 turbo d series eg hatches running low 14's and high 13's. with junkyard turbo kits. less that $400 for the whole kit.

Just FYI, there probably are more boosted D-Series than any other engine. I'm sure the B-Series are a close runner up. Think about how many Civics you see out there; and many of the kids run junkyard turbo kits, i.e. manifolds off a 4G63 (bolt holes need to be modified to fit) and T25 or smaller turbo.
