Oil boy with cl-s

Whats up guys,

I bought and used a tempo oil boy this weekend. I used it on one of my other cars and it worked great, left no oil, not even in the oil filter.

The thing is, when I used it with the CL, it seemed to have missed quite a bit of oil. Any ideas why? Also, do you guys use the smaller diameter or the larger diameter tube to suck the oil out. Thanks.

I use the biggest one that fits down the dipstick tube. You can also turn the wheels at the way to the right and get the filter through the fender. Makes for an easy oil change.

Right, I also used the biggest tube...but it only got about 3.5 quarts of oil out. I will try next time to make sure I get more out.

You have to use at least 2 of the tubes to be able to reach all the way in to the bottom of the pan. My oil boy is usually filled to about 3 inches from the top when I am done.

I think I was using the smaller one and really jammed the thing as far down as I could. Seem to remember getting a little less than 4.5 quarts. I'll tell you what's really nice is the ability to haul the container to the recycler and just pour it out. No fuss no muss.

I have the Temp oil boy too. Works perfect. I got about 4.3 quarts and the remaining amount came out of the oil filter. It added up to 4.6!

Mine gets all the oil out except for the filter. Slip a plastic news paper bag over the filter before you remove it. No mess.

Now why didn't I think of that ... thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah I use the one standard tube in addition to another tube. I guess I didn't put the tube all the way down and suck out all the oil. I will try it next time, thanks for the suggestions.

I use a Griots version and get all the oil out. When the thing starts sucking air (indicating that the oil is gone) I do another couple pumps to create more vacuum and wiggle the suction tubing to make sure I get every last drop.

Make sure you feel the tubing touch the bottom of the oil pan.

If you're concerned that you didn't get it all go ahead and check. Open up the drain bolt and see what's left -- it should be next to nothing.
