Lightbulb Odd Headlight Issue

Alright, pay close attetntion. This is an odd one. Hopefully someone has seen it before.
The DRIVER side HID was not working, so I read a couple of very helpful threads here and swapped the bulbs to see if the problem followed the bulb. Once done, the DRIVER side was still out (i.e. problem stayed on same side, both bulbs work, I'm thinking inverter at this point).
Went back out a little later, flipped on the lights and neither fired up. Turned lights off and immediately back on and the PASSENGER side was out, DRIVER side was burning. So basically, the problem originally stayed on the same side, but then swapped after the lights had been turned off and on a couple of times. Any ideas?

Do your turn signals or fog lights dim at all. I have just had a headlight issue, and it was because somehow I had 2 hot wires running to my headlight. Its crazy, but my issue was from an insecure ground on the drivers side, this was leading to a haywire light, turn signal, and fog light.

If these arent your problems, it is probably the ballast/ignitor, I am not to savy on this topic, but from what I was reading yesterday. You might want to look into this more....

Ask me any questions, I did a ton of reading on headlights yesterday, what a snooze.

It does sound like a grounding issue, atleast it's similar to problems I've had in the past with drop in kits and retro-fits. If not a grounding issue, it could also be a voltage issue. Did you turn your lights on before or after you had the car started? If before, and your battery is dying, there may have not been enough voltage in addition to a bad ground, causing the rebellion against you.

I'd go with a ground problem.

Thanks for all of the info. If I am looking for grounding probelms on this 2001 with no modifications, where would I start. Is the inverter the most likely culprit?
By the way, the car was off, but no change when on. Nothing else seem dim... except maybe me!

Where in GA are you? May be I can take a look at it and see what's going on with it.

Douglasville. I'm gonna work on it this weekend. Check some of the electrical, maybe remove the inverters to check for cracks, water (as seen on here earlier), or other stuff. I'll post back with what I find. Update, neither are working now, and as you can see from earlier information, they are both OK.
Thanks for the offer and stay tuned!

Oky doky, smokie. I'm in Cumming, so it would be impractical for me to travel that far. But if you still need some help with it, I'll be happy to come lend a hand.

OK all, the continuing saga. The passenger side works fine. Swapped the bulbs again, passenger side still works. To eliminate the grounding problem question, I completely removed the driver side headlight assembly (ballast and all), and plugged it into the power source on the passenger side. It still did not work, so I am relatively convinced that the ballast is bad. So I am in the market for ballasts if anyone has a line on one.

Thanks for the offer agian, but Cumming is a bit of a haul coming to D'ville. I have an ole college buddy that lives up that way.
