OBX vs. Comptech headers

HI, i am new to this. i have been reading up on the post for a while and i decide to join. I did a search on the OBX header but i didn't find any result. I went on ebay to look for header on a cl type S (2nd gen) and i came across OBX. i have heard of them for honda but not for acura (even though they are made by the same company). does anybody know anything about them, they cost about 300 dollars compare to 1000 dollars from comptech. this is one of the reason i am curious becuase i dont want to put something that will not give me perfomance.
please let me know if you guy know anything about these header and if you recommend them or just stick with comptech?

the performance gains are pretty identical. The only thing w/ OBX is some people have had fitment issues, but they can be easily solved. Also some have had them crack but that can be fixed too.

This thread will turn into a big bash on OBX in a second. This board has done a ton of it so I made a poll one day to see how many people were REALLY having problems w/ their OBX headers. Here it is:

http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...&highlight=OBX

For the price the OBX are hard to pass up. I will say that the craftsmanship of the Comptechs is second to none. There are very few products ANYWHERE in this industry that are as well built and beautifull as some of comptechs parts. But that price is just hard to soak up for some. Even if you do have problems w/ your OBX a second set would still put you cheaper then the comptechs. And most of the problems people have had w/ cracking and such can be fixed w/ a little welding.

thank you. now the site say they are for a honda 3.0 that doesn't affect anything nor spacing in the headers. are they basicly the same engines?

Already been discussed - SEARCH.

Pros - OBX headers gains close to Comptech.
Cons - Fitment, Quality, Resonance on low RPM.

By the way, friend purchased Alfa Werks headers on ebay ($320 shipped) after people reported good quality and NO fitment issues on 'v6p.net' and/or resonance and will be replacing his current OBX headers on Accord V6 with CLS cyl. heads.

Anybody who says they searched for OBX info and didn’t find any isn’t trying hard enough.
I just did a quick search for “OBX” here and got TWENTY PAGES of threads.

I've had them for 15k miles now with no problems. The low RPM resonance is true... but I dont' know how it compares to CT's. The only ride I have been in that had them was steve's and he had exhaust too... so couldn't distinguish.

Goldmamo, at least you are reading and responding to the thread. No one argues against the notion that CTs are the best...because we all know they are the best. The issue then is price. I've had my OBX for 15k miles also with no problems outside the fitment, which my friend addressed, and the resonance, which I don't mind (actually I like it sometimes). My opinion, get a set of used CTs for 600-800 bucks and you are golden!

If you can find new CTs for under $1100, it's a good price. Like Ferizzo said though, you can get used ones for $600-$800, but they are hard to come by. Check the Black Market everyday for new postings.

doesn't mean the thread needs to be closed If that was the case half the board would be full of closed threads.

FYI I have a little over 30k+ miles on my OBX. I'm reaching my 70k mile oil change (69k right now)...and I believe I installed the headers immediately AFTER I got my tranny replaced (a present to my car) which was around 39.5k miles.

As far as leaking/cracking...perhaps living in CA helps, since we don't see the type of winter conditions the east coast members get.
