It is a resonance sound, mine happens at 2800 rpm only when the engine is under load.

Happens on mine. It's basically something you have to live with. I don't really even notice it much anymore. I just try and keep it out of the 2500-2800rpm range as much as often by usually stepping on or lifting off the gas

Damn that sucks that you have to do that.. I read some post in the past, and some people said that if you use the OBX gasket, you will have this problem, but if you swap them out for OEM Honda's you should be able to fix it. Good Luck.

The problem is we need to locate the source of the noise. Then, we can fix it once for all.

Someone figure out how to fix this. I can live with it, but I would love to get rid of it.

the obx gaskets are a loose fit but i was missing one of them so i did get a honda one and it is a tight fix but i more or less made it fit, i agree it could be the gasket.

you should not use used gaskets, they help stop leaks.

When you go get them installed drive it around 2.5k and see if you hear the noise, if you do ask the shop guys to fix it and ask them what they did

Playing the ass here, why do ya'll need to fix this??

You pay for a $30k+ plus car, added headers and are willing to accept a problem??

Is OBX aware of this and correcting the design??

You should should not need to fix this, the manufacturer should...

Mine only does it occasionally, no rhyme or reason with respect to frequency, at about 2500. Sounds just like a loose heat shield.

Of the multiple sets I have installed, none have experienced this or any problem.

It's caused by the pipes vibrating (due to compositin and wall diameter). By changing materials and thicknesses you can move the resonance around. It's hust like a tuning fork.

There is no easy fix (other than removing them). You get that with aftermarket exhaust as well.

An old rodder trick for exhaust was wrapping a piece of bin wire (heavy gauge steel wire) around the pipe and tightening it. Location and amount of wire would change the tone and RPM (since you're changing the resonance frequency of the pipe).

.... or just live with it....

Header-wrap might work... but I don't trust OBX material quality and you might end up creating more damage in the long-run!
It's not going to fix the problem... just muffle a bit of the vibration.

I doubt the manifold gasket is going to fix this!

Sounds like you guys should have spent the extra dough and bought the Comptechs. Mine have no problem here.

I really don't thick it is a gasket issue. If the gasket is vibrating, than it is also leaking. I love the noise and the $900 still in my pocket, compared to the Comptechs. But, if it was simple to get rid off, i would!
