OBX installed Friday

Got my headers done Friday, 180 installed which I thought wasn't bad considering it took 3 people to get them on according to the service mgr at Ray Laks Acura (Mark Churchill if anyone needs to know). Temp was 40 last nite on my way home and the headers seemed much quieter than I expected. I was looking forward to more of a roar. I only hit WOT once and could really feel the difference, like maybe .5 second to 60. The car kept hitting the traction control limits causing the light to blink in 2-3 and 3-4 (very briefly). I took a good look at the headers pre-install to make sure the welds were OK. Thanks to whomever for posting those pix. I also noticed the pipe where it exits the cylinder looked like it had a bend in it as shipped. Upon inspection, the pipes are fitted over the yoke that attaches to the manifold. I don't think it's actually a bend at all. I'm going out to look at my car to make sure the ceramic coating is not flaking off like it did to someone else. I'll post if it is.

Congrats... Keep us posted on quality issues if any!

Do you hear any resonance sound at 2500-2800 rpm?

Yeah, it sounds like the heat shield or something "tinny" goin' on down there. Svc mgr said to expect it, just gotta make sure I'm not at that rpm too much!! And Loseit, I did minimize the fitment story, it was a major bitch according to Mark. Because I was having a big service done too, he discounted both otherwise I think I woulda got charged 20-40 more.

Damn your traction light comes on between 2-3 and 3-4? Thats crazy... with the OBX headers mine lights up on 1-2 sometimes... never 2-3, 3-4 unless the road is wet or something.

Also... am I the only one that gets the resonance at 1900 and 3000 RPM? 1900 is most obvious to me because i hear it evertime I go from a stop... doesn't matter if I go full throttle or go gently on the gas. When I go gently it is more obvious.

Anyone know what exactly causes that change in pitch?

Yeah, the roads were damp Friday, but Sat the vsa came on 1-2 and 2-3 on dry roads. Now all I have to do is find that 'stang GT I ran a couple weeks ago and give him another run.

Hmmm, I'm dropping my car off to Mark Monday after work....I wonder if they would take care of my install for $180 too?

I'll have to give him a call tomorrow & check.

They're doing oil & ignition......plus I'm dropping it off....so there's plenty of time.

Put my OBX headers on today and it was the fight of my lifetime. Front header flange far driver's side hole needed to be drilled larger. Oxyger sensor barely made it in and now the end of it(were the wires are) actually touches the bottom of the engine. Stock this wasn't the case. Only two of the three flange bolts to the cat line up, I had to drill out the one that was mis-aligned and use my own longer bolt to get it to finally fit. Took me six hours! But the power gains are very good and it was still worth saving $700 as long as they hold up.

Please don't use me as a source to get your headers installed at that price. I'm a LOOOONG time customer and I think I get breaks b/c of it and I've done favors for Mark in return.
