OBX Headers (Pictures) as shipped By SSAutoChrome.com
Hi Guys,
A lot of you had in mind the quality of the OBX headers.. Be the judge and see for yourself. I ordered mine on 9/04 and recieved it on 9/06..
The signed-off FedEx-carried box looks like:
The box came sealed:
With a Warnning! :
And, it comes with OBX Racing badge to:
Now, what is inside the box.....hmmm, let us see:
And another one:
A white Box in a Box... What is inside that thing?!! :P
Uh... I can not read it that typed thing, could you zoom a bit:
Now, where are the headers?:
Let us see the front one:
The rear:
OBX badge (damn it... it is on the rear header):
What about weildings points?:
And, can I see the collectors from inside?:
The rear header' collector:
The front header' collector:
Finally, where is that damn A-downpipe, I hear about?
And.. Uh... can I see.. some installation Pictures:
Nah... that is enough for now, but expect a full report soon.

The manifolds don't looks port-matched to the head on these headers?!
If you notice, the factory ports are bigger.... wonder what effect that has :-)

Not that significant!!
I just installed my Comptech Headers last week.
I paid $900 for them. The OBX goes for $400, let's say + $200 for install (unless you do it yourself). I'll pay the extra $200 for
the CARB exemption and Acura warranty with Comptech products!!

Re: Port Matching
Yes, that is exactly true... you are true on the mark... I noticed the same. The smaller ports could explain the much lower gains ( much more than comptech ) due to smaller ports, i.e. faster exhaust pulses.. and bit less gains at the top of range (i.e., > 6500 rpm ( at 6500 CT headers would increase the torque )...
But, if you ask me I prefer the gains much lower... This could be design advantage for OBX headers over CT design.... It coould be not a blind copy afterall.
Let EricL pour his expertise on this

Uh... not quite!
This is not a flame on the OBX headers, BUT, I don't think the port sizes were created from any design/engineering purpose... they knew the headers would fit the auto-CL-S and hence they marketed it that way. If any sort of engineering was done, they would bend the Cylinder #1 exhaust runner to fit the rear motor-mount (the only difference between the 6spd and the auto).
Created by accident... my friend!!
For driveability... sure the lower-range gains 'feel' better. But, in reality, most aftermarket performance parts are judged by the improvement at the track... and you NEVER drop below 5.5KRPMs if you drive correctly.
Best-case test. Take a stock CL-S 6spd. Make 5 runs down the 1/4-mile. Install the OBX, make five runs... install the Comptech, make five runs. Take the mean of each in terms of E.T and mph and you've got your result! I don't think the above is feasible... but it might happen in a less controlled fashion.
