OBD-II vs PGM Tester

Any Diagnostic Tool Experts... this is a question for you guys. Which is better... the OBD-II or the Honda PGM Tester as far as number of things you can do with it?

I got my emissions done today, and I was floored by the fact that they just plugged into my OBD-II port and that was it! No probe in exhaust... no revving... no nothing. They just read data directly from my ECU via the OBD-II and that was it! I passed.

Does anyone have or know where I can get one that is specific for Hondas and Acuras? What do they cost and what can I do with it?

Thanks for any info you can give me!

the one that honda uses is by far the best. it'll let you temporarily disable certain features which is nice
it'll set you back a couple grand easily

the scanners the public buys usually only reads ecm values

The PGM tester is a dead issue now for us at the dealer level .A new tester is now out for us .It is a tablet style with a touch sensitive screen .It is live to the internet at all times and updates itself with the latest software and or fixes .It can as an example be used in an 04 TSX to turn anything that is electric on and off activate solenoids turn lights on and off we can even tell the gauges in the instrument panel to move full sweep or partial to test for functionality .Forget the price it is astronomical and as far as i know the software can only be accessed by the dealers equipped with this tester .
