O2 sensors

So yeah, that CEL(code P0141) came on after my header install and then went off the next day after I pushed the cord in. I drove to Atlanta this weekend, about ~260 miles away and then the CEL came on again, but 30 miles later it went off. Now It just came back on and I just want to replace the secondary O2 sensor before it messes my cat up. My question is this, are the two O2 sensors the same(as in part #s)? Has anyone purchased one off of eBay? Is it a Denso or Bosch product?
Thanks.

i believe they are 2 diff part numbers, the secondary o2 in the cat can be had for about 80-100. just try oxygensensors.com to get the part #s you need and ebay them.

Thanks guys.
Is $54.98 shipped a bad price for the Denso OE sensor from oxygensensors.com?

Can anyone confirm by experience that the sensors are identical and both just plug right in w/o modification? Every site I have visited said I need two different parts, and the rear sensor costs $35 more. I cannot believe that it's the same part but with just a longer wire and costs $35 more?

Thanks

when i bought my universal ones, they were 2 different part numbers. And yes, they where the ones that i had to solder to the original harness that came with the original O2's

The thing is though, that the rear one had a little protective thing on it where the wires come out of the sensor itself. Thats the only difference that I noticed when I was putting them in.

i could have sworn the plugs are different. if you are buying the plug and play ones, i think you need to order the correct ones. if it's universal then you just splicing in the old plug anyway.

Does that mean the 02 sensor can't be cleaned once its dirty? I have had my CEL light on ever since my header install (3 weeks ago). Can this mess up my cat? Sorry if its a dumb question, I'm still fairly new here.

yes it will mess up your cat. a bad o2 will run your car very lean. the excess fuel will burn up your cat.

Sorry for being dense, b I want to make sure. What if there is just grease or something on the O2 sensor, which I read was a common mistake on header installs. Does that make the sensor bad or does it just send a signal to the car to turn on the CEL?

Lol I love exhaust threads.

Do what i have done to mine. No cat and an O2 Simulator
Works like a charm. Had it in since about October and no problems.

Or spend the money and get it fixed...

Actually, it gives a "false reading" (sensor's output reading isn't as high if the sensor is faulty for one reason or another) your car to BELIEVE its running lean...The ECU then dumps excess fuel in response.

right, thats essential what i said, i just didnt explain it well. in the end your car will be dumping extra fuel and that fuel will get burnt up in your cat since the cat gets very hot.

i would think grease on a sensor would destroy the sensor, because again, those get very hot and it will burn up the o2. their not that expensive and fairly easy to change.

Downstream O2

Hello everyone...., what would I do with out you....what a suck up ehhe?

No Iam thankfull to Acurazine, anyways...quick question:

1. Just had my o2 replaced, the first one before cat, and I feel a huge improvement, but its still feels a litlle sluggish

2. How important it is to change the second one., could this still improve my performance. or i should be looking maybe into cat, or egr.....

My car almost stall today, would the new O2 giving now better fuel mixture could effect a performance of the secondary O2 ....

Thank You , and remember to change your O2 after 100k

My secondary o2 sensor was giving bad readings due to a leak in my flex pipe and it was causing all kinds of weird irregular power issues. It even felt like I had transmission problems sometimes. Once I changed my flex pipe, everything was SWEET! I'm assuming that having a bad o2 sensor and having bad flow to the o2 sensor will create similar problems.

i have an electrical background. just because there is no CEL for the o2 (which you will get when they are def bad), does not mean they are not functioning 100%, electrical signals vary, they can surge and drop.

Also, O2 sensors as they age can also get "slow". Their response time to react can give the ECU delayed or inaccurate information.
