o2 sensor going bad

my girl has a 04 TL with 8K miles. the car is going in the shop for the 3rd o2 sensor replacement this weekend. it seemes that every time her brother borrows the car, it happens, and we know he cruises at 100 mph for extended periods, this is the only thing the tech thinks it could be. I've never heard of this happening and some of my friends drive very similar. its all under warranty, buts its annoying as hell to keep putting the car in the shop

Any suggestions, except the obvious to not let her bro take the car!?

Mods sorry if its in the wrong forum, I didn't want to put this in the TL board cause I don't go on there enough to know who knows what they are talking about-people on this board are very knowledgeable from my past inquiries- no offense to the TL guys of course

thats what the mechanic stated everytime, just got it back this morning, and it was the o2 sensor , and they said it was from misuse, replaced it for free, but will not again.

Very odd.

Seems quite odd that they would say misuse...how in the world can you misuse a sensor?

I mean if they're having issues with the sensors going bad on an engine cruising at 100mph (roughly 2800rpms)...I think there are other issues at hand...

his wording was misuse, but i think he meant abuse, meaning that the car/sensor wasnt made to be crusing at that rate. either way he said the next time it will be on us to pay for it.
