O2 sensor

I got a check light today... (scared the living hell out of me as you know what my first thoughts were!) - anyways, its a #135 which refers to O2 heater circuit malfunction. Wierd for it to come on all of a sudden. I checked both O2's and they don't appear to have anything visibly wrong.

Only the rear O2 is heated... am I correct? So, this is a problem with that O2 sensor possibly.

I have the same thing, had the headers for a year and now the check engine is on. dealer told me the O2 sensor closest to the oil pan is getting too hot and tossing up the code... i would just replace the sensor, but i wanaa solve the problem so it won't happen again. Maybe the dealer's just shunning me.

Both are heated, four wire, sensors.

The code did not specify which HO2 sensor it was; I didn't look it up?? Have you cleared it and has it come back?? There can be false codes set from time to time.

Hmm... its # 135, but the manual says O2 heater malfunction, bank #1 - I think the bank #'s are irrelevant right now?!?

Correct, we have only one bank. I'll need to look at this code in the manual and the diagram.

Has it come back??

that's exactly what I got, O2 heater malfunction. I hope my problem is the same as yours. I have a n auto and I also get the "!" light and the vsa sometimes with the check engine.

Does it keep coming back after reset(s)? I an order an O2 sensor... but which damn one?!?

If its the rear-one... then obviously the header has nothing to do with it!

I just looked it up: Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Sensor 1).

So it is for the first sensor. After looking at the diagram and knowing where it is at I would suggest checking out the wiring. They would have been working near that region to install the clutch and maybe something was damaged.

If there is nothing visibly obvious you will need a DMM to test the circuit.

There doesn't appear to be anything visibly wrong.. I looked under the car and under the hood - unplugged it and plugged it back in. What should the voltages be wsr to GND? I can check with a DMM.

So, you still don't have the shop manual...

It'll be easier for me to scan the test procedures in the manual and post them. Give me a little bit and I'll have that out to you.
