NSX head swap on a J32A2?

Is this possible? I know the NSX block is a C-series, but I thought there might be a way to swap the NSX head on our J32A2. The extra cam should yield more power.

Discuss.

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't think it's possible. I believe you would need the entire engine block as well. Now you're talking a whole engine swap. I would think that would be better. Not sure if it would fit without any cutting though.

I'm sure the engine mounts will have to be remounted and whatnot. But for an entire engine swap, I don't know if the extra 30 horsepower is worth it. Then again, the mod potential is probably much higher than the J-series.

the mod potential on the j series is huge, these motors can handle good amounts of boost. The tranny is the weak link. There are numerious boosted J series motors running around in sand rails etc w/ no problems. Most are hooked up w/ an adapter plate to a VW tranny. The J series has tons of potential.

Oh, I'm not doubting the potential of the J-series. But I just meant that the C-series would have even more potential.

Yes, the damned transmission. Could you elaborate on the VW transmission thing you mentioned, CLpower?

they make an adapter plate so they can bolt on a VW tranny. Wouldn't work in our car.

Do you think a 03 CLS 6MT would have a problem handling about 425 WHP? When I was at CT last getting my car dyno'd, they were working on some guy's NSX that made about 425 WHP with a higher boost S/C than they normally sell.

I wonder if the NSX engine weighs more.

In retrospect... adding a CT S/C to a CLS 6MT is about all the usable power the car needs for road racing. Of course, I wouldn't mind adding another 10 or 20 WHP to my 305 WHP. For drag racing, I guess the sky's the limit as long as you can get the traction.

Considering the automatic NSX made less power and was moving a lighter vehicle, that probably wouldn't be a good swap.

We'll see soon enough and where the problems arise. But IMO, the engine seems very sound and will be able to take some power. I also feel the manual transaxle's internals will be up to the task but other drivetrain components may start to fail.

How about an extra 75 WHP...

I doubt all water and oil passages are lined up. Plus, the belt system would most likely need modifications. There are other things we can do to get more power, swapping the head is the last thing to consider.

The heads wouldn't fit at all....they are really wide to make room for that other cam. This is a common question on the Legend board....and we even have C-blocks.
