if you were a prospective buyer, which would you choose now? will you now go for handling over luxury and value or still go for luxury and value over handling? hate to admit it, but i'd prolly go for an is300 w/ stick than a cl-s w/ stick...

No way, CLS with Stick, now that the mods are starting to come out were gonna really start giving those M3's something to sweat over. I can't wait to see what numbers a stick CLS with headers, pulleys, & Xephyr CAI, will run.

Eclipse, aren't you the least bit disappointed that we're gonna get creamed by the stick CLS? It'll be a split like the TL-S from the CL-S forums. They might as well be totally different cars.

You cant compare the two cars...

The CL-S = a comfortable... compedent... cruiser.

The IS = A racer.

Its like comparing a Bentley to a Lotus... sure the Bentley is fast... but its not a race bred machine.

If I wanted performance I would go for the IS300-M

If I wanted a comfortable pimp ride... I would go with the CLS.

I think you are crazy!

What exactly makes you even think about preferring the IS300 over the CLS if both have 6speed manual?

Probably the added control from the stick...but even with a stick...the IS probably won't be much faster than a CL-S with an auto...depends on your outlook..what do you want??

Good point. I don't doubt that there are more than a few current CL-S owners that will wish that they had the manual tranny. Too bad Acura waited to release it.....

Hey, you can always trade up though......

I will never own another Auto unless it is my second car. I should have waited for the Manual, that sucks. I am not gonna trade up I am saving for an 03' M3.

the point is i was trying to make is that if both cars were offered in a manual, would that be enuff to sway what u are looking for in the first place. i picked the cl-s cuz of the value and the luxury, plus the fact that the is300 was not a stick, which it was meant to be. to me the is300 becomes more attractive w/ a stick as opposed to a cl-s w/ a stick. i think i would give up the luxury for the handling if the the is300 was a manual in the 1st place. in the end, i agree w/ what soopa said. handling i'd go w/ a is300M, luxury, cl-s WITH SS. now about those ricey-ass tail lights...

As far as that goes, I'd rather have the RWD than the stick (though I'm loving the stick arrival).

With RWD, the weight distro will even out closer to 50-50. At that, handling will increase. With a stick AND RWD....'nothing but NET!"

I don't know man...
Like I've said in the past, you can always work on the handling (especially the CLS, with it's good suspension design) but there's only so much you can get out of an engine before getting into major modifications.
I don't know about the "M" in the IS300, but 215HP just doesn't cut it for me.

I don't think that very many of you guys have actually driven a Lexus IS300. You keep talking about how much better it handles than the CLS. Maybe on a parking lot. Take one on a real, bumpy, broken curvy road and see how it handles. The front end will bounce out of line, the front end will push and it won't come close to a CLS. I've done this. You ought to and then offer opinions. Stick or not, the CLS wins. Yeah, the CLS is a little beaky, but it isn't a 19 year old's boy rice racer like the IS.
