NOS kit

just purchased a NOS Super PowerShot Wet Kit w/ a 70 shot w/ 10lb bottle.

How high of a shot I can safely use? I'm thinking about purchasing a 100shot..
How much WHP gain should I expect from a 70 shot or a 100 shot?

BTW: I don't have any engine work done except for a AEM CAI. thanks in advanced. ^^

I don't have money for comptech headers, but I've heard that there are 2 new brands out and they cost around $300-$400? Who makes them and where can I get them?

JDM,
Siggy might have come across a little harsh, but, the information you are trying to spread is grossly inaccurate.

It doesn't take long to do a simple search especially on Google...Type in "NOS engine wear"

3rd link down was for a FAQ.....

Here are answers to the most commonly asked questions about NOS Nitrous Oxide Systems, along with tech information compiled by the NOS Research and Development Team.

Q: Will Nitrous affect engine reliability?

A: The key is choosing the correct H.P. for a given application. A kit that uses the correct factory calibration does not usually cause increased wear. As the energy released in the cylinder increases so do the loads on the various components that must handle them. If the load increases exceed the ability of the components to handle them, added wear takes place. NOS kits are designed for use on demand and only at wide open throttle. Nitrous can be extremely advantageous in that it is only used when you want it, not all the time. All NOS kits are designed for maximum power with reliability for a given application.

Point being a lot (if not all) of us who just joined or are long time Acura owners rely on this site for its accuracy in content. If you say that each shot adds 15,000miles to the motor at very least include a link or footnote as to where you got this information from. 2mins of research could have saved you a whole lot of grief.

true. but another thing to keep in mind is make sure you tell us what the source is and why its reliable. Just because it was the "3rd link down" on a google search doesn't mean its chock full of good information. Not tryin to put you down or anything, just for future reference as some of these guys only accept info from a select few sources

Sorry if it was harsh, I applogize. Your now the 10^7892178921 person to make some rediulous comment about nitrous.

What you said was just dead wrong...

Is it friendly to give people wrong information though either? By saying "I had to learn the hard way" would make someone think you had experience blowing your engine up. And if you only got 10 shots out of your N20 setup you had something seriously setup wrong... or had major engine problems to being with.

Basically stating unfounded facts and then trying to back them up by stating your "experience" isn't very cool to do either.

Plenty of folks /w N20 on here, no major problems either...

without engine management you should probably stick w/ a 70 shot. you should see a 50-60 whp gain.

you should definately be looking at getting headers too.

*PROPERLY* setup there is no reason you couldn't run a 150-200 shot. Like any forced induction setup the question is really how much can the internal components handle. Crank, Rods, Pistons/rings, bearings, bolts... People have shown that the engine can handle loads as high as 500 (crank hp). I don't believe anyone has done a oil study or pulled the oil pan to check bearings for scaring/wear. But there is 2 turbo charged CLS's running around with around 400+ WHP.

I would do a 2 or 3 stage N20 system if I was going to do 150-200 shot. Or the only thing you'll accomplish is roasting the tires/wasting $$ on N20.

Pickup a bottle warmer and a pressure guage if you don't have one already. Also make sure your bottle warmer has an auto-shutoff... Bottle temp can really throw off the pressure and mess up your F/A mixture.

yes bottle warmer. If the bottle is cold your psi will be low like around 600 psi or alittle lower for thats what i got when i didnt have a bottle warmer. When i got a bottler heater it when up to 1100psi on avg. and the performance jump up with it.So when you heat the bottle your creating pressure.
