Is it normal to feel the road
I can feel the road surface when I drive. If there is any texture to the road like grooves or even slight bumpiness I feel the vibration. I know the suspention is suposed to be tight for cornering and manuvering. I have stock tires. If I upgrade will it be quieter? And how about changing the springs. Will that make is worse or better.

Don't have the 6-speed, but I do have the sways...
(I don't know if they changed the shocks and what the story on the spring rate is. I do believe they did change the bumpstops and spring rate...)
It is "normal" in the automatic version of the CLS to feel some road harshness (and assume so for the 6-speed). If you wanted a "float-a-type", (AKA land yacht), you might consider an old Buick, etc with shocks removed (or worn out). Until electronic/active suspension gets into our cars (with a selector switch with the following settings: auto/watercraft/soft/sport/hard/fillings-gone, I think you are experiencing the normal "feel" of the car.
You could check the tire pressure of the stock OEM tires. They should be set to 32PSI for "everyday" operation. You could alter the pressure a bit (low == softer, higher == harsher) within a few lbs. (Watch the low pressure at high speed with a bunch of people in the car)

better tires would give you a better road feel. then you would know how much the stocks really suck.

Amen, you know they suck, when a more than a few high-performance 3-season tires feel better on "most" surfaces...

I love when people are worried/concerned/dislike the stock suspension.
PLEASE WHATEVER YOU DO, don't install something that actually makes the car HANDLE WELL like comptech swaybars, coilovers, and new tires or your back will require surgery, your internal organs will liquify, and you'll get hemorrhoids and a kidney infection. And your firstborn children will have their growth stunted.
No wonder Acura used to market their cars to old folks. (No offense to the older crowd that enjoys sporty handling.)

Are you talking abt road noise also?
...If I upgrade will it be quieter?...
FYI, I'm still using the stock tires. Looking to change tires in the next month or so.

Sounds like your playing Project Gotham Racing!
I was playing for a while today...it's amazing how they make that you feel the road, bumps, everything! Just my little spiel...

Most definately not interested in the "float". I want to feel the handling of the car. I believe what I am feeling has more to do with the tires and not the suspention. My last car had a similarly tight suspention and I put cheap tires on to save money and the road rumble was never an issue.

Not sure if you are also talking about road noise from the tires, but it seems like the stock Michelins are REALLY noisy. I've had good experiences with Dunlops with respect to road noise, and it seems like they are respectable enough tires. If road noise bothers you, I'd give Dunlops a shot. Probably the Dunlop 5000 for our cars I think.

IMO, my Toyos are "quieter" than those MXM4s -- they are really noisy on some stuff!
