NoOOOB!

I'm totally new to cars. I will be getting my first car for christmas. I am buying my sister's acura cl sport 2002. I'm not sure what that means and haven't even seen it. I'm shipping it from virgina. I live in missouri. I wanna learn about cars though. Moding them atleast. I do know that it is red, I hate red. how much do paint jobs cost? Is there any lingo of the top of your head that I should definetly know? Any information would be amazing! I definetly want to put some money into the car and keep it looking fresh! neon and all sorts of stuff. how much do color match rims cost? haha I've got tons of questions. can anyone help? :-p

first of all dont change the color of the car. too much work and it makes the value of the car go even lower than it already is. The forums are extremely helpful and you will definately learn how to cleanly mod a car. Im taking that you want to focus on the looks of the car as opposed to engine mods correct?? eitherr way learn to use the search as most things have already been discussed.

Oh and the red on this car is beautiful, youll love the car

Welcome to forums.

Common mods are headers (aftermarket exaust manifold), CAI (cold air intake), and underdrive pulleys.

But first things first - Read through this:
https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-2001-2003-50/%2A%2A%2A-official-2nd-gen-cl-information-thread-%2A%2A%2A-480087/

You're not going to find a better collection of information on the second generation CL.

And for lingo - its Type-S (just S .. not sport).

Have fun - always search first - then ask questions.

Thanks everyone. So when I said I wanted to mod it I didn't nessesarly mean to do it myself. I'm not sure if I'm ready for that. I really don't know anything about cars. Would I be able to take it to a shop to get most of this stuff done?

You need to go through the FAQ sections for the CL.

I learned a LOT when I got my CL.

You don't want to start off asking a bunch of dumbass questions and get flamed by us so reading through that section is a good idea.

Look at the Photo Gallery to see what others have done to theirs and see what different looks the CL can have.

Then you can wisely chose your mods based on what "look" you like.

Oh yeah...use that SEARCH button...that is your new best friend.

Of course...everything has a price.

Where do you live?

I would start searching for any "tuner" or "import" shops in your area.

Might not exist in your city or town but people are "modding" cars and you just need to find them.

I have not done very much work by myself because I don't trust myself with the mechanical stuff.

So you just need to find mechanics that are knowledgable enough to install aftermarket parts...sometimes they are hard to find and some shops don't want to deal with them in general.

But basically anything can be achieved with $$$.

See if I would have done more research and could of done it all over again....I would have got a 6 speed and now I'm paying for it because I always think about it.

welcome

there are plenty of FAQs and good readings about your car before you start posting. Plus any mod that you plan on doing, 99% of them probably have been discussed before.

Happy reading and good luck!

Def. for the DIY spirit.

I wish I had a garage and space to do work on my car.

If I did...I would tackle more projects.

SO I would say thetillmiester try working on a few simple projects by yourself first and I think you will feel really rewarded when you finish.

Save some money and get more mods...welcome as another member said to the "Money Pit"
