Non-Comptech headers for 2G CL?????

I found these "Comptech Style Headers" on ebay. Some gurus shed some light on this. Recommend or stay away? Price is very attractive...

I have them as well as some other members. I love mine and I haven't had any problems. Do some searching on XS Power or headers in general and you're likely to find lots of info already posted on Az about it.

Ive had them installed for about 3 weeks now.

at first i was hearing noises, brought it back to the shop who installed it, they told me it was my axle making noise. Installed different springs and 19's the following week, had them check my axles while it was on the lift...they said they couldnt find any problems whatsoever and I havent heard any noises since

so in conclusion the headers are working just fine! and the mechanics at the shop were complimenting the quality of the headers, which I found surprising. it costs more to have them installed then to buy them! and no one on this site has used them long enough to report anyproblems yet...........

I say buy em and join the bandwagon (unless of course you can afford comptech)

I agree. However, to me, it wasn't not being not able to afford the Comptechs. It was just such a great deal, and Fuzzy had good luck with his, I figured why the hell not!

this ahs nothing to do with not being able to afford comptechs. the price is rediculously low. I bought a set last night from DEEDEE@ssautochrome last night. I sent him about 10 e-mails with a million questions and I got replies back within 30 min. on everysingle one of them. He was very helpful. They are not listed on the site but if you e-mail him he will take care of you. I will post observations when I get them as well pics and the ass dyno results.

Question

Great..but do tell me something please. The Comptech headers are supposed to give you a 27hp boost. How about these. Would you say these are close?

Do I need any other parts besides these? I am thinking of getting headers (these or comptech) and an comptech axle-back exhaust..

I am a noobie and suggestions and recommendations are very welcome...

It's going be about the same as the Comptechs.

Just get them off ebay if you want them. I don't know what their website is.

Sweeetttt. There ad say "ALL DIRECT BOLT-ON TO ANY AFTER-MARKET 2.25"-2.5" CAT BACK 8-15 HORSE POWER GAIN ".

The comptech boasts 27HP gain. Also, do i need ot upgrade my exhaust on my 03 CL-S 6MT before i get this?

It's nice to finally see other test mules out there

Fitment seems to be not a problem. Long term is still in question. It's good some other members are getting these from different areas. We can see how thay hold up in different climates.

One word I have though. PLEASE don't bitch at me(or others) if welds fail or they don't hold up over time. I said from the start when I found them & installed mine that there was no way to tell how they hold up over years of use. CT is proven these are not.

Hey, you'll get no bitching from me!

As far as I am concerned, if the welds break in a year, I'll just buy another set and throw these away. They're disposable at this price!

How is the engine sound and the ride guys? Did you gain any extra engine noise when cruising?

I've had mine on for about a month now and they're holding up great. Paid $110 on ebay and almost twice that for installation! But everything fit perfect and had no leaks whatsoever. As far as tone goes, through the factory exhaust it sounds great. Louder than i thought it would be. In my opinion, it's just a tad deeper than a G35 or 350Z in factory form. It's a bit louder when it's still around a quarter up the temp guage, but once i've been driving around for a bit, it settles into a very nice tone that i think it should have had from the factory. I'm interested to see how it will sound with either a different catback or just different mufflers...

Really didn't feel that much of a performance gain, but i really don't jump on my car all that often...

You should feel an increase after the 1st few days of driving.

The description says that they're "Race Headers"...Does that mean its not road legal?

Also, cause their so cheap would it be best to jet hot coat them? Would it make them last longer?

They are just standard headers, just like the Comtechs. They are street legal.

Actually they do not have a carb sticker like the CT's do so you may fail an inspection in CA, or other states that are strick on that stuff. However, none of the others have them either.

Well...considering i went from my built Mustang to the CL, my perception of in the seat gains has been a little skewed...but i'm happy with them nonetheless. I'm sure they added a few horses, but i just didn't notice them quite as easily as others may have. I say go for 'em. Best bang for the buck in my opinion.

So would they also affect emission testing?

You won't void the warranty

Do they effect emissions testing? No they don't. I think only CA people will have a problem since they have very strick laws. If it doesn't have a carb sticker it may not pass. However anyone who looks at the car shouldn't even notice they aren't stock ones. Maybe a CA person can chime in with that?

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects against that...

Unless the dealer can prove that a mod is responsible for the issue you want repaired under warranty, you should be ok...

Example: Slamming a car on coilovers might limit your ablity to get suspension work covered under warranty, but headers, intake, slightly lower then stock springs and even a supercharger should never affect the warranty.
