I've had no problem and use them all the time. Others who've used the brush or rag type of wash have reported getting swirl marks in their paint. I've not personnally seen it.

I use them all the time.
The CL went through plenty, especially in the winter.
Nothing touches the paint except high-pressure water/soap so there’s nothing to scratch.

The only negative I’ve noticed is the cleaner is rather harsh and it probably strips some wax off.
And watch out for the ones that use metal pipes for tire guides.
The one I use locally uses all lasers and nothing is in the way of the car as you pull in/out.
It has a nice drive-under dryer at the end too.

i've used them, but honestly, they don't impress me if they car is really dirty. If you're car isn't very dirty and you just need to clean it, they work nicely. They just don't work very well with salt, etc if it's been on there for any amount of time.

Personally, i generally either handwash my CL or every once in a while, i'll take it to this brushless car wash near my house, it's got the shammy style brushes and as long as there's enough soap, they don't scratch.

I used to use one in particular all the time. It did a great job on the NBP as long as it wasn't totally trashed from bad weather. I stopped using it as soon as I installed the CAI though. My buddy has a Jetta GLI and had a bad experience with his so I dare not do it.

I find they are more expensive than just using the hand sprayer and dont get it nearly as clean. I usually just leave it dirty and wait till its 35*+ and dry and handwash it in the driveway.

If you use HOT water from the bathtub to wash it, and hot water for the rinse bucket your hands wont freeze.

I got so many scratches and swirl marks from those hand wash places. i will never take my car through another one. I rather my car be covered with bird crap and dirt. I usually take it through those brush less ones. I think they do the best job to clean and not damage the paint.
