Thanks for the comments folks.....appreciate it.

Anyway, the Volvo bases at just under $37k, but the car I ordered was basically loaded (came in at $43,340). So its not that far off from the other cars. Basically, the S60R was not worth leasing since the #s really sucked. Since I was reduced to buying the Volvo, I would rather buy an M3 or S4 if that's what it came down to. Leasing is not out of the question on the German cars (yet anyway), so my chances are better there.

RICA Chip is now available ... will raise HP to 330 HP ( from 300) and TQ to 450 Nm (from 400) not bad for only a chip mod.

Hi Beltfed. Sorry you're not getting the S60R. I've followed your progress on Swedespeed and knew you were getting close (I traded my MDX for a V70R on 6/18). I don't think the S4 is going to be a great lease candidate either. The gas guzzler tax is supposed to be about $2K making the car with a couple of packages about $52K. I know an Audi dealer in Chicago and they think the residuals are going to be pretty conservative (at least in the beginning) due to the economy and rather steep MSRP. There's definitely not going to be any type of leasing incentive offered on the cars. VOA/AOA has already stopped leasing in NY and replaced it with something called the Premier Purchase Program which is a balloon payment scheme that adds $'s to the monthly payment. I think traditional leasing in NY is pretty much dead. You should check out what you want to do next pretty thoroughly so you don't have another problem at delivery.

Hey Barry,

The S4 probably won't lease that well I agree, although I still think it will be better than the Volvo (which was horrible). This due to the fact that the lease would be through AOA/VOA, where the Volvo lease was through Chase (they are pulling leasing in NY as of July 1st). Most of the private banks that are pulling leasing out of NY are putting crappy rates on the cars as to basically force people not to lease (even worse when the car is limited).

Since the S4 is new (high demand), I gave it some thought and will probably get the M3. BMW seems to be largely unaffected by the lease situation in NY currently, if I end up having to buy it then that's what I will do.

These are all nice cars, don't think there is a wrong choice with any of them.

Thanks for all the feedback, you guys are cool

exactly.

don't let your experiences with the first year CL keep you from getting the S4 dude....

S4 looks better, more class, has the sweet V8 sound, and Audi has some of the best interiors in the biz, can't go wrong with it!

You forogt to state that these are you opinions.

Cause i personally think the M3 looks WAY better and the interior is better and has much more class.

BUT i will give one solid fact about the M3 that the S4 has no claims on...

The M3 has a very proud and well known and well respected heritage.

beat that S4 :P

Amir thats your opinion. I love the rasp sound from the m3... but yea some people dont like it, but there are ways around it. UUC makes a piping that will remove that rasping sound.

i dunno to me the m3 would be more fun... i like to break the back end loose somtimes. Makes me feel as if i have more control over the car. But hey since Beltfed lives in NY, then maybe the s4 is safer for his granny ass

Thanks for all the opinions people.......I ended up putting an order in for an 04 M3. Was at the dealer today with my buddy for like 2 1/2 hours. Had to wait for my salesperson for awhile. I have known them for a very long time, one of the other sales guys that I know threw me the keys to a 760Li they had in the back (holy shit, the interior of that car is crazy).

Anyway, I have driven the M3 before but wanted to drive it again....fun car. I'm going to get an exhaust for it, the dealer is also Dinan authorized (he said he would hook me up on getting the ECU ugrade, which I know doesn't really do shit but whatever).

So until the next problem comes up, case closed.

As long as the dealer can get the color approved (sales guy said it shouldn't be a problem)....I went with Techno Violet/Black, 6spd.

I'm starting to read E46Fanatics, seems like a good board.

Exhaust wise I would probably go Eisenmann, although I would like to know what the hell this Rasp-X is about.

This is what I always hated about BMWs, there is endless shit you can waste your money on with them.

I am still concerned about that, so I just might end up getting a 2nd car (which I like to have anyway)......nothing too crazy though.

Soopa.....I actually ordered the 19s, they are a good deal from the factory.

Anyway, when are you picking up the 20th AE?

That was my oldman's Land Crusher, I keep the Viper at his house (along with some other things you saw). I don't feel like paying $220/month to garage the car where I live, when I can garage it for nothing.

Since the M3 will be cheaper, I might spring for parking....we'll see.

Yes, the Viper collects dust :o

So which BMW board is better? Bimmer.org is a Troll fest and their layout is stupid.

Yuppie.......The line has been forming for months.

I sorta got what Beltfed opted out of. Traded in the MDX for it. Keep in mind, while a wagon, it still does 0-60 in 5.6 sec, the 1/4 mile at 14 sec/101 mph, and pulls .87g's. Has AWD, 6-speed, 13" Brembos, and active suspension. Also equipped with a Dolby Pro-Logic stereo with 11 HK speakers and a 325 watt amp. On Call Plus (Volvo's OnStar) even comes with an AT&T phone built in to the dash. I never looked at or considered a Volvo before, but have to say it's built incredibly well. The interior is all leather down to the lining inside where the armrests fold-up. The Volvo Navi is three times as fast as Acura's and the database was just updated in January. I still have a TL-S (until September) so I'm still in the family.

Looking good Barry, you're certainly not going to see yourself coming and going in that Flash Green rig.

Definitely an attention getting color combo.

The irony is that in Spokane, no one has any idea what an "R" is (or M, AMG, or S for that matter). They do all stop and stare at the turquoise Volvo with the orange interior. I'm not sure that's a compliment. This is definitely not a "car" town and I see only a handful of high performance cars of any type. Although my dealer has a $140K Alpina in their showroom. I do get "thumbs up" from the ricers in their 10 year old dropped Civics with fart can exhausts.
