since the new 03 housing are black do they not have the ufo effect anymore?

w/ the 01,02 chrome housing when you go in a garage or tunnel or under a tree you can notice the hid's reflect off the bottom of the housing and then shoot the lights straight up , hence 'the ufo effect'

 

What? I'm blind, I just turned my lights on in my garage.

 

I love the chrome housing. Really looks hot on the Aegean and black CLSes.

 

I only get this with my high-beams on? two little white circles...

The 03 headlights are definetly brighter...or more concentrated than the 01's...at least on mine. Has any other 01 switch to 03 notice a difference??

 

Is this a fact? Id like to see side by side shots at night between the two.

 

I dont know if its a "fact" but on my car when I pull up to where I park at night...the light shines on a wall...the light looks more solid on the wall instead of seeing some brighter reflection than others. I hard to explain but I think it is...I will try to see if I can get someone to do a side by side with me. I might have been my lights on my 01 cl but I really think its brighter on my 03.

 

I kind of like the UFO affect.

I dont know that there is any other difference...it just seems to be more focused than my 01 was. When the lights of the 01 was on the wall...you could see two lines from eash light..that were angled slightly and were brighter than the rest of the light on the wall...on the 03 there is no lines...just solid light and bright. I dont know..it could be me tho. I will try to do a side by side.

 

I'm sure there is no difference other than this... still the same bulbs and ballast set right?
Yet, I wonder if the housings are better for not scattering the light everywhere... in other words being more focused where you need them to be

It would be interesting if some one can put a 01-02 together with the 03 for nighttime shots of comparison...

I remember when I was installing my Sylvania Silverstar HI’s I shot this pic…. Shows the search effect somewhat. Notice how the high beam light shot up.
That is the hi-beam on left side only – and yes I know the roadmaps are different too. Believe me I don’t drive around that way!
