I was at Wayne Acura in Wayne NJ yesterday and was talking to one of the guys there for a while and he told me that they had just gottin the info on the 2002's and that there will be no manual,and that the only change will be the lights on the back will have white on the top like the tl's do now...he said expect the manual in 2003. Also if you are in the area i would suggest stoping by there cause they are currently offering CL s at very good prices cause of a huge inventory of them, he told me that they are offering type s 's w/o navi for like 29ish, maby cheeper

Honestly, I'm one of the skeptics to begin with, so I never thought a 6 speed CLS was on the way as a 2002 model, however, there have been articles directly quoting the president of Honda of America saying that a 6-speed is due out for the 2002 model. I guess this goes back to the old saying.... I'll believe it when I see it....

I never believed it anyway. In fact 2003 may be a bit opitimistic. No offense, but I wouldn't believe the salesman either.

 

I would not believe a salesman, he might just trying to give you info so that you would not give wait for 02 but rather buy now. And BTW 29ish is not a good deal for CLs w/o navi. 27.5 would be a good deal on a CL. Just thought I'd mention it.

I wouldn't believe the sales guy either. Did you go in like if you were going to buy a CL-S? He might've just said that so that you wouldn't wait for the 2002 and go for the 2001 now.

 

i also didnt believe it...why would they build a 6-speed anyway...they dont sell..and to make it even semi-profitable it would have to be on the accord. Even less accord buyers are lookin for manuals.

Something smells fishy, and I believe you're being played for a sucker. That's true, but magazines have been known to be wrong. I've seen several national mags that have screwed up CLS specs.

 

Pasasdena Acura also told me that Acura has an 18-month product cycle. If the CL-P came out last year before the CL-S then a new CL-P in August, September or October would fall in line with that claim. If that's true, then it'll be a while before you see an updated CL-S.

Just to get a few things cleared up. Wayne Acura is different from Wayne Gruen. I used to be Service Manager there a few years ago, but left because they would'nt let me run a shop the way we do here. So, please don't confuse my name with their name.!!!

BTW- 6sp manual does not currently show up on the order info for the 2002 CL. I have no info one way or the other, but I would think that if it was going to be avail, there would be an order code for it on the new list. there is one for the 02 CLs a/t!

Also- we can beat any deal on an 01 CL-s in this area plus give you that great Park Ave Acura Service

Well to put in my 2 more cents, one he didnt have me go on the board to promote his dealership, i just came and said that, and he said he can start the cl-s at that price, and then work from there....im also planing on buying my new car, when ever that should be (dam parents) from park ave., just by the way they treated everyone at the CL meet a couple of weeks back...also the way the guy was telling me, i dont think that he was just saying that to get me to buy one now cause i strait out told him that i would not be buying it any time soon. I do have to say though, they do have a nice dealership, givin that they have about 10 cl-s parked right in the front so everyone on the highway can see them

Ahhh....only Honda can pull this ambiguity shit. Some recent examples:

1) We didn't know Aegean Blue was available until they were delivered to dealers. "Is it SEMA Blue?" "Is it Aygian Blue?"

2) The now famous TL Type-S was a rumor until they too were delivered to dealerships. We had to jack off to sketches up to weeks before the first one hit dealership lots.

3) A new RL/Legend will be intro'd March 02 and will be a VERY important platform for the upwardly future of the brand.....we dunno anything there either. Yet we see spy pics of the new BMW 7 series 1 year in advance.

4) The Civic Si hatch coulda had 200hp or 160hp. It was confirmed out at 200hp until 2 months ago when Honda changed their minds at the last minute.

5) Dealers know jack shit. We knew more about the new RSX before they did due to the Net.......and everything was written in Japanese.

There are more, but I'll stop here.

I think the CL will look better with completely red tail lights than with the two-color tail lights on the 2002 TLs.

Let's hope Acura isn't going to be a "Lexus" about the situation...the 01 GS has a *slightly* different tailight now, and they designed it so it was just a tad bigger than the 00s, 99s, etc. so they could not fit on.

Man, I learned al ong time ago not to believe a word the dealer says. Wayne made his casae very effectively and efficiently. He said they do not have an order code yet as he thought they would if it were due out when expected. That's all he said. Not yes or no. THAT was a good answer.

Man, I bet you right this second if you went to any Acura dealer and asked them when the RSX type R was coming out you would hear more bullshit answers than you would believe. Hell, I already heard from my dealer that the RSX-R would be out 8 months after the initial release.

Listening to dealers is worse than taking the word of teenage girls.
