No lock for trunk release botton ?

I kept on wondering, but I couldn't figure out an answer.

We have a trunk release botton which is pretty cool idea that Acura came up. but ? is there any lock for it so things in our trunk can be safe ? I mean, anybody can just break my window and press the botton to open my trunk, right ?

Check your glove compartment.

There's a button in there to lock the trunk release.

The idea is that if you hit the switch in the glove compartment the button in the car for the trunk and the handheld button will not open the trunk. Then you lock the glove box and give the valet the valet key.

Then his friends crowbar open the trunk and tell you they are not responsible for the contents of the car or damage while under their possession.

If you switch the trunk opener off in the glovebox...the master key remote WILL unlock the trunk as long as there is NO KEY in the ignition. I do it all the time when I travel. I lock the valuables in the trunk and glove box, put my CD's in the rear compartment and lock it. Flip the switch disabling the trunk opener, lock the glove box, give 'em the valet key and keep the other keys with me. Sorry TypeR, You be wrong!

You can disconnect the valet switch without having to lock your glove box. Beneath the center console plastic piece on the passenger side there is a wire connection that can be disconnected. Just remove the wood grain portion by slipping it straight up and unscrew the plastic cover. There is one main wire disconnect it and try the valet switch in the glove box. The trunk lid should only open with the remote and not the button on the driver side door. If it works mine did then replace and only use the remote to open trunk. It would delay if not hinder would be thieves. But as they said a crowbar some time and enough attempts anything can be opened. But why make it easy.

Then you would have to remove your key from the ignition every time to open the trunk.

If you lock your glove box you need to remove your key to open and switch it back on. Preference I guess. There is no key on the trunk so if your battery went out you would have to replace it or reconnect the wire, but that should not be often. It just lessens the access to the trunk. A glove box lock can't be hard pick or pry open if they know were to look. Most Honda's and Acura's have similar areas for these things. So experienced theives know were to look.

isn't there a manual trunk release handle just inside the pass-thru hole in the back seat? (or am I thinking of another car?)
