No fog lights for '03 CL?

I was looking at acura.com and you can't add fog lights, however i see pics here with 01 and 02 CL's with fogs.

I hate not having fog lights on my CL. Will the lights from '02's work or do i have to get aftermarket lights like katz or piaa?

Oscar, the fogs in the 01-02 CL are really "Road Lamps". the stock bulb is like 12 watts...they're there for looks. One reason why I can see Acura designed the car this way is because the HIDs have too wide of a spectrum in the front of the vehicle, therefore even a 50 watt foglight would do nothing but ruin the pattern of luminesence on the road...as for asthetics, yeah I think they look alot better with the road lamps, however I have no clue if they fit on the '03...I'm sure Shawn would have tried it by now....Shawn S? any luck with this?

If I remember correctly they will fit in the 2003 fine. I thought I remember Shawn taking a picture of that.

I wish it was 12 watts, there actually 5 watts, same as map lights and door lights. I think the reason why acura left them out is because, they kept on burning out, and there was really no use for them.

if this wasl also the case they wouldn't of put 35 watt fog lights in the tl/ tl-s but they did.

For now, I stick with my 18 watts.

18watt (left) -vs- 5 watt stock (right)

So is there any way to make the fogs brighter without changing out the whole system? Will changing to a higher wattage bulb, like 55W be dangerous? Sorry, I'm new here!

No, 55W is a disaster.

I have heard 18watt is the max you can do-- even still you may have some minor housing melt.

So the only solution is to put aftermarket fog light's in?

Where in CA are you?

correct sir...Shawn and i had a picture contest on the road lamp cut-outs...originally, i thought the inserts were permanent, but as Shawn pointed out, they were the same size and shape of our road lamps...so the bottom line is yes, u CAN purchase the housings and install road lamps into an '03...difference is u supply the wiring, the bulbs, and the TL foglight switch.

the thread is HERE

Generally, I thought it looked better with them in, for now it seems as the '03 has a gaping mouth. But as mentioned, they were relatively useless and burned out frequently.

Out of curiousity, is the circuitry (minus the housing, obviously) still wired for the '03 CL? I imagine it wouldn't be hard to hook up road lights/foglights from there if it was still, theroetically, wired.

u need to wire it yourself...shouldn't b too hard...toughest part is prob finding/tapping into a power source

I have a “Ram Air” type of project planned for the drivers side area.

This is what it looks like with the cover removed after I installed my Xephyr CAI.
I’m envisioning a small opening there with some kind of baffle to block large debris from hitting the filter.

It’s on the back burner right now, but I will get around to it before the end of the summer.
