Nitrous Vs Turbo/SC

What are the reasons not to get Nitrous and go for a SC or Trubo ?

How is the turbo/SC not be as bad as the nitrous ?

I'm highly considering getting the ZEX kit instead of thinking of getting the SC for alot less $$$

Thanks

One reason would be to have the power on demand (SC or TC) vs. having to spray and maybe not having the bottle full or running out, etc.

as for technical reasons...don't know.

i've torn down a few nitrous motors and too this day i still haven't seen the residue some people claim that it puts in there.

The medical grade doesn't contain Sulphur. The reason for this is not for 'staining' the motor. It's so that people don't start getting high on it!! Medical grade is harder to get and hence 'controlled'.... anybody can purchase race-quality N2O.

On the previous question... it really depends on the setup of the motor. At moderate levels, either way (Turbo, S/C or N2O) will
work. N2O tends to be harder on the motor, albeit it is used less (well, supposed to be used less).

N2O is a pretty sudden surge in cylinder pressure and subsequently this translates down to more stress at the tranny... I'd say 65 is okay... just don't hold the button down during shifts!

I thought the Zex Nitrous Kits automatically "kick in" when you hit the throttle. You just arm it, and it will do the rest

If its a throttle-switch and you don't let off the throttle... voila... it doesn't shut the solenoid off. If it takes a signal off the TPS, its the same thing.... don't let off the gas solenoid never shuts.

That's why I was always a little worried about the ZEX kit. What happens if you are in SS and at full-throttle, and by accident hit the rev limiter?? The car's ECU shuts off the flow of gas to the engine, while the N20 is still pumping..........BOOOOM!!

Because of all the little "what if's", i am getting an old fashion NOS kit.........so when i need a little extra power, I just push a button. I don't want to worry about rev-limiters, spraying during shifting gears, and other shit that can go wrong when the N2O is controlled by a computer, and not by a person.

all in how you use it

NOS is all in how you use it and how often. I know that NOS as long as you dont squeeze at every light and take it ez its fine. My friend has a hatchback civic that was turboed and had NOS which drove fine (daily driver to) just as long as you dont push it every so often meaning every light or when someone gives you a dirty look . Other friend has a turbo, SC and NOS all in his civic.. pretty nutz. IMO. I would just go with SC thats my 2 cents

If you are only into drag racing, nitrous is a more cost effective power adder. If you like to drive mountain roads or go to an occasional auto-x then nitrous is not an option. The bottle does go empty and requires refilling.

I feel it is based on what your intended function is, for an occasional boost of power or for consistent power whenever you might want or need it.

I have a Zex kit in my CL and in fact I am selling a remote bottle opener for the ZEX kit.
