Which Nitrous kit is right for our car?
Which Nitrous kit is right for our car?
Come on Scalbert where you at? Would a system like the ZEX system (works with stock) be better. Or a NX system that uses a bottle warmer and needs added mods Like the one DGT-S is using. ASSUMING that power is main issue, not cost, so any mods needed could easily be accomodated.
the truth is, every kit will require other modifications. everyone running nitrous should upgrade their ignition & spark plugs @ least.
i like the NX kit b/c they have large quality solenoids.
bottle warmers & purge kits are just accessories to make sure you're shooting @ the right pressure.

Which is more efficient, I know the top ZEX boost is 75hp, and NX has huge kits, but the NX is more expensive, especially with the purgekit and bottle warmer which the Zex doesn't need? Why did you choose the Nx kit DGT-S?
my car has a little over 12k miles. i've only been spraying since about 12k but i don't spray around every corner. i've only gone through 2 bottles. mostly for tuning purposes around the shop & stuff. i'm sure the engine can handle 100shot but we all know about the tranny. i wouldn't worry about the engine as long as your kit is installed by an experienced mechanic.
about your comment on the zex kit, all kits need some accessories to run efficiently & safely. purging is always encouraged before a run & depending on your city temps, the bottle warmer or blanket are required for the proper pressure.

hey ultimac, when are you getting your pump & fpr put on?
i'm very interested in these 2 mods. i heard our injectors are up to par w/ pretty much all the power anyone has on these forums so we just have to get the fuel there quicker i guess. are those your intentions?

They were originally, now i'm pussing out on my car kind-of, I am thinking of selling my fuel stuff, not sure. I've been having all these other thoughts of getting a bike, or another car to toy with. Or just start saving for a house or my next car. Mods are just so addictive, everytime I do anything to my car, I start going crazy looking for the next step. And for the cost of heads/SC/NOS/suspension, I could get a new Z06 almost. You know what I mean? I'll probably end up doing a bunch of stuff to my car anyway real soon.

i'm waiting for moroso to reopen so i can run my car.
i'll definitely post my times immediately for those of you considering nitrous.
btw, i would definitely buy those parts off you if you do decide to sell them so let me know right away. are they used? i didn't quite understand your reply. if they were installed, any difference? how were they tuned?
thanks

I think that is basically what I said about your .02, For the money we are spending on our cars to make them faster we could just go get a Z06, and I'm willing to bet a CL-S w/ 12,000 mod still won't keep up or handle with a Z06. DGT-S the parts were never installed still in the box sealed w/the Comptech wrapper. I never put them on because everyone says our car runs rich and those would make it run richer, without the addition of NOS/SC/Turbo. Since I don't have any of those I haven't added them.
Nos is cheap but working up to it is not... Heads, exhaust, plugs,V-AFC,sways,springs,shocks,rims etc... See where I'm going with this. MONEY PIT.. Not to say I don't recommend anyone making their car as they want it. I will be one of the 1st to put the RES and MM2 on my car, I just am not sure if I want to shell out $3,500 for a SC. I 'm more bang for buck oriented right now. For instance heads, exhaust, and a SC, you're looking at $5,500 not installed. A new 2002 600cc bike any brand costs about $7,500, and it a lot faster, as long as the whole DEATH thing doesn't bother you
You could also get a 95 240sx for $4200 and add 4,000 in mods to it and it would probably be faster and (RWD, stick), and you would have 2 cars for the price of 1. A CL-S for style and a 240sx for speed. JUST an EXAMPLE though!

and dont forget, all these mods bring the value of your car even lower.. so you are spending money twice, once on the mod and again on the depreciation.. so you would have saved money by buying the car you wanted in the first place..
eh..

But in the case of one system versus another, I feel the type (wet versus dry) is more significant than the brand. Most brands are very similar but offer slight advantages in kits or packaging at various prices. But the methods of delivering both the nitrous and fuel are important aspects to look at.
Although more power can typically be had through a wet system, there are limitations in installation. Plumbing a single or multiple fogger nozzles in the intake tract too far away from the intake ports (like just after the throttle body) could lead to fuel dropping out of suspension and puddling in someplace like the center manifold chamber. This could lead to a severe lean condition in which most of the engine internals do not survive. But this typically only occurs where there are long intake runner paths; I believe an SHO suffered this fate a while back. The problem with installing the nozzles closer is the packaging, where do you put them?? There really isn't enough room for nozzles in each intake runner.
A dry system is much easier to install and provided your fuel injectors can take the added pressure, you should be in good shape. However, there is a limitation on the amount of power you will make (and repeatability) and it does promote wear on the fuel injectors. But it may be the easier system to use if modest power is the goal along with ease of installation.

your jane plain looking to get a used car..
do you
a) buy the car that has been left stock, meaning it prob hasn't seen serious action, and more importantly still has some warranty left, or can be easily warranteed.
b) buy the car with 20" rims, nitrous, lowered 2", rollbars, etc, etc..
i say if you want to mod a car, mod a used car. cause it has already lost its 7k of value.. unless your made of money, then thats good for you.. (people are selling cl-s for like 25k with 20k miles on autotrader btw)
BTW zex was designed to run on a stock engine. You will have to buy the zex spark plugs but they are only like $30.00 so its no big deal. Check out the info at www.zex.com
I am down to go to moroso so if any of you guys go, PM me.
