My 2002 CL-S is black but yet when you park a car behind it and turn its headlights on to shine at the back of my car, it looks like a metallic deep blue color..but only under heavy light...in the day time you cant tell, only at night and under stong lights...is that how it is supposed to be???

Well, if you look closely at the paint, there are ever so slight specks of 'glitter'. This may be the root of you question, when shown over heavy light. ??

 

in very bright sunlight, i can see a metallic blue color on my black cl-s. that is if i look very closely and the car is completely washed.

I, personally, kinda wish it was just flat black.

 

Yes this is normal our cars have blue paint chips or flakes in the paint. ACURA change the color in 2000 from the FLAMENCO BLACK PEARL that was on the 1999. In some light conditions you can see the blue alot early mourning & late day sun mostly.

 

Hey guys i have the exact same problem! I bought my cl used, so i thought that mine was in a wreck or something. but foiund out that the whole car is like that! IT is a bit annoying but im getting used to it!

 

i have the same thing on my black 97 CL... blue glitter in the paint... i like it alot .. so dont think you second gens are special

and Monterey Blue Pearl looks like black
at night until you get up close and see that its not black.

 

one of my friends owns a black accord(2002), and another friend a black civic(2001).. samething happens when there's a strong light directed at their cars.. looks like really really dark blue.. and my sister's black 2000 TL does the samething... i think it's nice..
maybe the base color they used to create black is blue.. you know like high concentration of blue = near black? maybe?

 

Yeppers, that's it. You didn't see this at the dealers lot? Anyone have a pic of it where it shows blue?
