NEWBIE - Help me out with my car :D

I just got a new 3.2 CL Type -S 2003

Its the dark gray one and has got pretty much everything i need, for a stock vehicle of course.

I am planning to make some mods, but im a just too damn new at this stuff. I need help!

First, I want to lower it a bit, but i dont want to sacrifice the great suspension the CL already has. Any ideas for this? I need the handling and i dont want to sacrifice it to drop my car an inch. Is there a way around this, like a body kit to give it the effect?

Second, i need some wheels! My tires are 17'' stock and I dont want to buy another set of new wheels, i dont have that kind of money. I'm looking for some nice 17'' wheels if anyone could direct me.

Third, I dont want a fancy body kit, just somthing to add a little flare. Any opinions on how my car would look with a body kit but not lowered, or would that give the effect of a lowered car?

All in all, I'm going for a fast, but still classy looking car. I want it to be different, but not riced out.

Please link me, send images of your own cars, or just tell me your opinions.

thanks.

wow sure glad the CL owners helped ya.

Anyways maybe you can try going with comptech sways first, that should improve your handling better than springs and you wont ruin your ride quality.

I say get rid of the stock tires first before you get new wheels. The stock tires will annoy the hell out of you very soon.

As for bodykits im not sure if there are really any out as of now. But then again i havent been keeping up to date with those.

Hi,

Welcome! Great color! Is it manual?

As for body kits, there are three known kits.. Sema Style (which has been started and end several times), Versus Kit, and the last if I remember, the Evo kit (help me out guys, can't remember where it's from).

Last, you can always try to put the OEM TL kit on to your car.

Good luck with at!

Oh last thing, for a little extra cash, I recommend Tein SS suspension, it gives you great adjustability for summer and winter driving.

i really wanted to get manual 6-speed but i got the better deal with the auto and i figured it would be best since i'm gonna have to leave behind my car for a while and people in my family dont know how to drive manual. no worries though, its still damn quick.

not too much power is lost, and i use the e-shift or manumatic as some call it. it has some lag compared to the manual but not horrible unless thats what you are looking for.

CLS2001 i was looking at your car, it looks awsome i must say.

one thing i am happy to report is that in the 2003 cl my car came ready with a strut bar

but seriously, thats one awsome cl, looks very nice witht he m5 lip spoiler

how much did those door sills cost
and are they easy to find?

also how did you get those clear headlights? did you install completly new ones or make mods?

comptech springs, definately. conservative drop, lower center of gravity for better handling, and a nice rake.
Yeah, those tires gotta go, and quick
ummm, not much to choose from in terms of body kits
I would debadge the anus
ummmm, if you don't wanna get new rims, I would powdercoat the ones you have now (do a search on powdercoat for the info)
that's it for now, tho you may wannna look at comptech sway bars, don't have em, but heard that they reallly help with the cars 192 in length.
hope that helps some.

i looked up powdercoating
it seems like a good idea to save some money, atleast that way i can afford the suspension

how does the powder coat look? i only found a few examples, and its not too expensive right?

itd be great if you have some before after pics of your own powder coating if you did that to your rims

Welcome I'd suggest sways and better rubber as soon as you can. Then Headers, springs and Koni yellows. That will increase your power and way improve handling. That should take you awhile

Actually its there is a bigger loss than you realize, and your auto is called a "SPORT SHIFT"

We get them from AP-SIGNWORKS.COM and the cost varies depending on when you get them

Wow most people are going for the look of the 03 headlights, if you want the clear ones you could probably trade someone who has the older ones and wants the dark 03 ones
