hello everyone newbie here from Chicago suburbs.
had the 2003 acura CL - S for a year now...
bought it and then my mom needed a new car so i made her a present. but she drives a lot and time for her to get a newer car so I am thinking of reclaiming the coupe instead of selling it. -- because no one knows these cars and i like it.
Wanted to say HI and ask some questions.
1. are there any cheap aftermarket taillights -- she cracked the driver and it might be cheaper than buying OEM.
2. what tires you guys suggest for all year --- Chicago winters.
3. suspension is creaking a bit -- i dont know if it a problem or i am just paranoid -- any known problems with those.

welcome fellow Chicagoan. check out the regions, as we have 2 upcoming meets.
no aftermarket tail light, either black market or dealer. as for tires. i run goodyear or michelin (not the factory tires that come on the car, those are garbage) all season and they work good.
where is the creaking coming from? front rear. might be sway bar bushings

I had the creak going over decent bumps. So i popped the trunk and stood on the edge of it and bounced the car up and down up and down. and the creak would come.
It was a sway bar end link.
I got moog links and the progess RSB, and now no problem.
Accept the bushings lose their grease then start to squeak. But just blast some white lithium grease on there and problem solved

sorry i have no idea how to post pics in the thread -- nothing exciting black on black with stock rims and stock spoiler.
the creak sounds like its coming from the front driver side --- and its at low speed or when i sit down into the car -- my guess it might be the wheel arm
i dont know where the local meet threads are but will look for them

check the bushing to make sure that they are in good condition. and not torn.
not the safest way to do it but it will work
take the wheel off, put a jack stand under the control arm. while u press on the fender or the radiator support bar, have someone look at what squeaks. spray some wd40 or pb plaster on what u think is squeaking and see if it goes away.

i would have to agree with taking the wheel off.. put something under the car on something sturdy that doesn't move. OBV lol.
then take a jack and put it under the rotor and crank it and see if u can get it to make the noise. Make sure to be careful with the rotor... I'd put a cloth between the jack floded a few times to make sure there is no damage (assuming you don't have the rubber piece on ur jack)
I'd just lithium grease EVERY MOVING joint in there and then see if that solves it.
My money is still on the end link.!! HIGHLY.. when mine would squeak it did it when the car moved slightly.. not aggressively.
It's the little bit of movement that creates that noise. Get some Moog end links for 60$ have em installed for 40.. and that should be ur fix.
I'd start with sparying everything with lithium first (the more the marrier) tho cause that'll show u if it's NOT the end link.
Or it may be the spring creaking. how many miles on the car?

GOOD YEAR TRIPPLE TREAD ASSURANCE..
best tires in the rain period.. got a 220 KM/H speed rating, GREAT tread wear life, and they are grippy in the snow or asphalt PERIOD. I am buying a set actually this saturday. 200 a tire, and they are worth every single penny
