New tranny and now a new clunk!
I just got the car back from the dealer with a new transmission. Now with moderate braking or moderated acceleration I have a clunk right under my feet. wasnt there before. the tech went all over it and says that everything he touched is tight. feels like the whole thing is shifting or something. any ideas? i have to make another appt to leave it for a day or two so they can try and find it! help.
Bet it's a motor mount... hope you're under warranty. Mine wasn't and the closest Acura dealer was 75 miles away so I let the Honda dealer "fix" it. They replaced the most expensive of the three motor mounts, then claimed that they could tell that another was bad too... I think they just shot-gunned the repair (throwing parts at it until it was fixed).
Whatever, I still bet that you have a bad mount or two. Especially if you drive it hard.

Hmm that brings me to a point, if I am lowered with springs/shocks and my sub-frame is loose or motor mount is bad, do you think they will fix it under warranty?

To make a long story short...
Wow, I thought my experience was unique:
After Ferman Acura in Tampa replaced my tranny (2001 CL-S 49k), out of curiosity, I just popped the hood to have a peek and found the nut on the front engine mount only finger tight. My blood instantly boiled, and I made the service manager put the car up on the lift to check everyting out. So he gets out a big torque wrench and honks down on this nut. Over the next few days, I felt something shifting upon braking and acceleration, and it's getting worse. When I take it back, they sheepishly say it had a bad engine mount and it's going to take a couple of days to get the part. But the write-up says "front motor mount bolt is striped" (sic). I just hate the dealer...

As you can see in the linked thread I experienced the same thing. Well Last weekend at work I decided to jack the car up again and guess what I found loose? The sway bar end link, I believe is what its called. 3 of the 4 bolts were completely loose. I tightend them and the clunk was GONE. I don't know what's wrong with the tech's at dealers but he swore up and down everything he loosened to replace the tranny was tightened.
All I can say is don't take their word for shit... What pissed me off the most is that they kept reffering to the car being lowered as to cover the prob.. WHAT the FUCK there was no clunking before the tranny replacement!!!! If it wasn't for my father being with me I swear on my manhood I would've caved the service manager/ and her little side kicks FUCKIN face in. I HATE FOUNTAIN ACURA in ORLANDO.... The worst customer service I've ever seen.
