New Security feature!

I was at the South Florida auto show last night in Miami Beach and I came across the coolest thing. In the vendors section this guy hands me a bat and says "Here hit this window as hard as you can" I could tell it was shatter proof glass(already had cracks from 1000's hitting it) but I gave it a whack anyways. Sure enough it didnt break just made my arms re coil. So I was like OK maybe when I become President(JK) Ill get myself some of these windows. I thought the glass I had just hit was that shatter proof/ bullet proof glass they use on like government cars.
Now heres the beauty of it, its not glass at all. Its a film almost like a window tint. Its availaible from clear to 5% limo tint. So for all you car stereo guys out there that have tons invested in your systems this will help. I asked the guy and a CL will only cost 350 bucks. Takes 3hrs. I got the guys card if anyone is interested. Just thought it was a really neat idea and just wanted to pass it along. 350 for this tint and a new window is probably way better than coming out to your car one day and seeing your 5gs in radio missing.

Sounds cool, but from the way you describe it the glass cracks when you hit it, it’s just not breached….right.
That means you still have to pay for the glass and reinstall of the “tint” if vandalized.

Still cool though.

Yeah the glass just cracked. The car will not be breached from what they said. That window took a whacking and still had not broken. Still got to get a new window and re-install the tint on what was hit.

Thought the same thing though, a really cool idea.

That would have saved the system in my Jeep a couple of times.

Either way you have to replace glass and tint, but at least this stuff would save you from replacing your valuables as well

Wouldn't that be a saftey issue if you got into a wreck & you couldn't get out the window?

that sounds pretty cool. rather replace a window (that someone would break anyway) but this case, they dont get in! and yah, i would wonder about the safety of it. also, do you think the tint would hold up? as far as resisting fade / color change?

True, but if I was the frustrated “homey” with the hammer in my hand and unable to get through the window I would probably take a few swings at the hood, windshield, fenders and side panels for good cause before running away empty handed.

Its basically like a tough polymer plastic. Its pretty tough compared to how thin it is though.

Cops, theives, or yourself would have a very tough time breaking the glass. You would basically have to use a pick axe to puncture a hole in it.

It's called security film. Originally designed to stop glass fragments from flying in an explosion.

Their booth or whatever it maybe, was in the back section. In the little motor cycle show/ vendors section. they were in the back left(if you came in from where the Mitsubishi display in the car show was)
