New rotors have arrived

Bought these from Woody @ www.raceconcepts.net

I wasn't supposed to open it cuz it's a Xmas present....but I had to make sure it looked ok. The wifey isn't too happy 'bout that. HA!

Porterfield R4S pads are also in the mail.

There's a groupbuy on these right now. It was $157 shipped for me.

Why didn't you get cross drilled and slotted? Do you plan on doing it yourself??

I didn't like the way they looked.

The rotors are made by EMC.

Our brakes will rarely reach the temperature where both cross drilling and slotting will be needed. For everyday driving it would actually hurt performance because there is less contact area for the pads.

Mike: have you installed them yet? Any noticable difference in brake feel?

chikai,

But I think that if the actual surface area increase on the rotor, it should still help, or at least not hurt the performance.

Drilling rotors reduces surface (pad surface) area.

So what your are saying is that:

bigger roter <> bigger pads??

If that's true, I guess I've been miss informed in the past. My bad..

Any pics with them on? Is the change drastic in braking? And are they just a plain stock swap (meaning will they fit stock calipers and wheels)? My rotors are warped so I want this upgrade. Please any help would be great.

In any situation where more friction is better (ie: tires on pavement, brake pad on brake disc, etc) the more surface area contacting each = better. So if you get bigger rotors and bigger brake pads, but drill enough holes in the rotor so that the surface areas are the same on the OEM and aftermarket, then you're not going to see any noticable gain. (i'm not a brake pro, but this seems to be common sense).

The only reason why you see cross drilled brakes on race cars is because the rotors are being constantly abused and the hot gas needs to be dissipated as much as possible. a standard solid disc would get too hot and warp in no time.

http://www.groupbuycenter.com/buy.aspx?id=7778 but it's over.

Talk to Wood about it. Seems like a cool guy and might give you the group buy price. Wood also said these rotors would NOT warp.

True and not true. I put on the cross drilled rotors in the front. Axxis metal master pads in the front and SS braided brake lines all around. Makes a HUGE difference. Before i had brake fade when braking hard, now it's nothing at all. No difference with normal braking.
