Yes.

UR = Unorthodox Racing. They make the whole set; crank, alternator, and power steering pulley. They make both underdrive and normal sized, lightweight pulleys.

Option Pulley = eBay company making just the underdrive crank pulley. No alternator or power steering pump pulleys from them.

So putting an underdrive pulley on, will it give less power to the power steering, etc. making those parts under-perform? to be honest I'm not really looking for a rally car or anything, just want something for a daily driver that will give it a little bit more push.

Also, that ebay link says a '97-02 CL... is that a typo or is there some reason why this fits an 03 TL and not an 03 CL?

almost the same engine. parts are interchangeable.

im going with the underdrive pulley. dont need my alternator to work hard bc i dont have a sound system, well i have no system at all, not even the factor shit. power steering isnt really an issue.

if you run HIGH AMP systems you need to have the same amp output.

I dunno if it is made but a SMALLER alt pulley in conjunction with the underdrive would be the BEST option for someone wanting both power and performance.

Nobody answered the question if it affects the power steering at all?? I'm having an issue with my power steering at the moment and my mechanic is convinced it's the Option UR pulley I had him put in..

I thought cls was higher rated at 120amps and clp are 105amps.

And 01 RED CLS I never had any PS issues with the underdrive pulleys.I think the alt might be the only noticable accesory.

FYI.... 01REDCLS

It underdrive ALL of your accessories. So that means, the alternator, power steering and water pump, and a/c.

When I installed mine I noticed if you dry steer (turning the wheel while the car is STOPPED) in tight spaces for parking, and if you got the windows down u can hear a hissing noise (nothing insane, but it's there), which is the power steering.

It's no biggie tho, nothing that really matters.

What sort of issues? Is it squeeling? If so, its not because of the pulley. Its because your mechanic overtightened the belt and wore out the bearings. He should replace it at no charge.

Please bear with me while I spell this out for myself, let me know if I got anything wrong.

Lightweight Pulley = same diameter, some gains, less weight than stock. No need to replace the belt. No change to the accessories.

Underdrive Pulley = smaller diameter, most gains, but belt replacement necessary. Can affect power steering, ac and large stereos.

Can someone quantify the difference in gains between the UP and LP? I am really nervous about the effect the UP would have on my ac and ps. I'm the guy that 1 in a million bad shit happens to.

Okay, so just to clarify, if I'm running the stock sound system, I won't notice any difference if I use the underdrive pulley? I'll be just fine without having to get a smaller alt pulley? And that hissing sound CL-S Progression was talking about, is that hissing sound from the power steering not functioning as it should be?

you will be fine with the underdrive pulley. The only thing you will notice is quicker rev's and acceration if that's fine with you.
I dont have whatever hissing noise he's talking about.
The only hissing I hear comes from my intake resonater box being removed. If that goes away in 30 seconds or so.thats not even pulley related.Underdrive pulleys are going to give the normal DD nothing but positive results.

it under drives all the accessories. So it has to affect the power steering to some degree, just like the alt.

All i'm saying is if u dry steer, with the windows down in a parking lot and it's quiet, you can hear the slightest hhiss... due to the power steering working hard and not having the pwr steering pulley spinning 100%.

if you are a perfectionist like me, you'll notice a change from every mod. but hey that's just me.

I'm sure plenty ppl have this with their set up too, they just haven't realized it cause it so miniscule.

And FYI the fact that I'm mentioning it, don't opt to not buy the underdrive pulley.

In my mind that little hiss noise only shows me the difference it actually made. and what a big one.

StreetKA here's a thread I made a while back when I got the option pulley. All about belt sizes and what not.

FYI the belt size doesn't have to be EXACT.. the tensioner does compensate for a belt that is off by a HAIR.

that's what I did cause I couldn't find it locally and I wanted it done asap.

HERE IS THE LINK

I still think the pulley is more of a gain than the intake (any brand).

This mod is probably the MOST underrated mod out there.

I definately picks up 10 hp and 10 tq. Especially since you can actually feel this mod, instead of wonder is your mind playing games.

Cannot go wrong

OH and if I were you I'd get gatorbacks.... they never slip and they are the best ones out there.. cheaping out on belts always bite you in the long run usually with slipage in the cold climates, or on a MOIST start till the motor warms up

from partsource in canada I paid 60 i think, give or take 10 bucks...

that's peanuts to make sure you don't kick urself in the head for cheaping out.

I always go with quality even if it costs extraaa

you want an underdrive pulley which spins your accessories less which give back HP to ur car. It is a smaller and lighter crank pulley which in turns makes the engine's rotational mass lighter and work less hard spinning the ALT, POWER STEERING AND WATER PUMP which makes the motor spin faster = HP.

And there are no issues with the fact you're accessories will be getting less "juice" spins at idle.

I have this exact on on my car from ebay

plus ur cl-s buddy won't know about that mod (and it's out of site) and it makes a difference!!! like one you notice when at WOT beside a car you're neck and neck with... you will be creeping away instead. :-)

it's the best mod in my mind period. for the price and for the results. some mods you ask urself... did this add power or am i playing games on myself... well this one, you don't have to ask anything. It's evident... was to me at least.

PLUS it should hypothetically make shifting on autos or manuals smoother as there is less weight/inertia in the motor so it's easier to engage gears
