New Momo Shift Knob Installed

OK another thread about a shift knob. Ran home and did the install last night . Please no comments about my lack of a life.

Got the Momo shot silver carbon with performance boot in black. Easy install. Throws are slightly shorter, but overall feel is much better. I think the weight of the knob gives a more positive feel. Just my .02.

Throws are shorter? By replacing a shift knob?

Yes, because the replacement knob is shorter than the stock one.

Everyone keeps asking why!!!

Draw a large letter "V". this is your shift knob from the side view. the left side repesents first gear, and the right side is second. measure the distance from the two top points on the "V". now draw a line horizontally through the "V" about 1/4 down. now, measure the distance between the two points on the little "v". should be closer together right?
riiiight!

some would argue that a shorter shifter lever only makes the arc shorter and not the actual throw. i think changing the knob to a shorter one would definitely change the feel slighty as was mentioned but i doubt it would get u that high dollar euro short throw feel.

how much shorter is the shifter with the new knob?

Here YA go.
It’s a slow morning at work so I whipped up this AutoCAD drawing.

I made some “guesstimations” at the overall height and throw angles, but you can see by this example how lowering the top of the knob ONE INCH effects the throw distance.
