the A 210 EVOLUTION – stylish top-of-the-range model with exclusive standard equipment

· Dynamic AMG bodystyling and 17-inch alloy wheels
· High-quality Alcantra leather appointments in the exclusive interior
· New four-cylinder model with 2.1 litre displacement and 205 Nm torque
· Top model demonstrates the flexibility of the successful A-Class model series

Stuttgart – The successful A-Class now boasts a new recruit: with the new A 210 EVOLUTION, Mercedes-Benz is launching a stylish top-of-the-range model that cannot fail to impressive with its powerful overall concept. The high-quality equipment with AMG styling, 17-inch alloy wheels and an exquisite interior featuring Alcantara leather clearly distinguishes the A 210 EVOLUTION from the ranks of ordinary compact vehicles. The new four-cylinder engine with a 2.1 litre displacement, a maximum torque of 205 Newton metres and an output of 103 kW/140 hp also guarantees plenty of pulling power.

From mid-March this year, the A 210 EVOLUTION will be available in both a short and a long wheelbase version from the branches and sales partners of the Stuttgart-based automobile manufacturer. The latest top model sheds a new light on the tremendous flexibility of the unique A-Class concept. Since its market launch in 1997, the compact trendsetter has won the hearts of over 730,000 customers throughout the world.

Unmistakable body outfit with dynamic AMG styling
The A 210 EVOLUTION has its own exquisite features to secure its unique position in the extensive A-Class model series: the unmistakable body styling from Mercedes-AMG and the new alloy wheels guarantee an individual look. The front design is characterised by the powerful front spoiler with integrated fog lamps and by the new radiator grille with its sporty contour and silver perforated louvers. The side view is dominated by the beautifully-shaped alloy wheels in the seven-spoke design, all kitted out with 205/40 ZR 17 broad tyres. The striking side skirt mouldings, as well as the new exterior mirrors with integrated indicator lights, set the tone, clearly stating that this is a vehicle from the Mercedes-Benz family.

At the rear, the dynamic character is highlighted by the powerful rear apron together with the two chrome-plated tail pipes and the wind deflectors on the rear windscreen. The A 210 EVOLUTION demonstrates its striking individuality with the blueish indicator lights in the clear-glass front headlamps, as well as with the understated red trim strips encircling the vehicle.

High-class interior with Alcantara leather appointments
The exclusive interior highlights the unique position occupied by the top-of-the-range A-Class. Dark grey leather, light Alcantara and brushed aluminium communicate a special look and feel to the passengers.

The equipment at a glance:
· Seat bolsters in slate-grey leather with light decorative seams, seat cushions in light, perforated Alcantara;
· Silver safety belts;
· Ergonomically-shaped, two-tone steering wheel with light seams;
· Instrument cluster with silver dial and new graphics;
· Cross-brushed aluminium on the centre console;
· Door pull handles in slate-grey leather with light decorative seams;
· Aluminium trim strips on the interior door panelling;
· Shift lever with aluminium badge and grey leather gaiter with light decorative seams;
· Sports pedal system with stainless steel inserts and rubber studs;
· Stainless steel entrance strips;
· Slate-grey velour floor mats with silver edging.

Alternatively, there is a choice between designo Alcantara leather appointments in either mystic blue, imperial red or burgundy.

.
Powerful four-cylinder engine and re-tuned sports chassis
In keeping with the high-quality and sporty interior, a new four-cylinder engine with 2.1 litre displacement ensures agile acceleration. The 103 kW/140 hp output at 5500 rpm and the maximum torque of 205 Newton metres at 4000 rpm provide that essential shot of adrenaline to get things moving: it accelerates to 100 km/h in just 8.2 seconds and has a maximum speed of 203 km/h. The NEDC fuel consumption is just 7.9 litres per 100 kilometres. It goes without saying that the A 210 EVOLUTION meets D4 emission standards and the pollutant emissions are already below the EU-4 limit set for 2005.

The sports chassis permits dynamic handling at good long-distance capability. Re-tuned spring dampers and a special rear-axle stabiliser make the A 210 EVOLUTION an agile compact vehicle. These are complemented by the effective brake system with disk brakes all-round; the front disks are not just internally ventilated, they are also perforated, thus delivering significant advantag

They've BEEN making it. The A-Class has been in europe for number of years now. This is the first redux, if you will. This car cost them a bundle. It was introduced, only to rollover in slalom tests. But to their credit they stopped production DEAD. Redesigned the chassis and suspension to fix the problem, and then took their lumps in the press, especially abroad.

As far as for how it looks... If very car fit your or my guidlines. There would be like 8 cars on the planet.

Gotta agree with Rock Dog. If it was up to us every car would have two oors huge engines ...all about the 1/4 mile in style. Wait....why is that wrong? Heheheh. Serioulsy, those things have been selling like hotcakes over there. I rode around in one in London. Those tiny cars have thier own charm. They drive tiny cars there anyway. And, its fun to push those little cars to the limit. And w/ a Merc you are doing it in style.

Remind me never to move to Europe then, cuz those cars are simply ugly. Even that Benz has a plasticky nasty looking interior. I'd pass, and buy an Accord.

well, I guess I'm the only one, but I like it.

It would be a good car for a daily commute, or even just for running about town...

You are not alone. I actually got a chance to drive one about a year ago. I have a buddy at DaimlerChrysler. They had brought a few over for testing and such. He had it home for the weekend and I had spent a couple of hours on a Saturday playing with it. It was pretty cool.
