New Guy Here

Heys guys and girls (if there are any), my name is Morgan and I just picked up an 03 CL-S NBP 6MT. I am the second owner. It had 56,600 on it when I got it two days ago, and I've already put 700 miles on it. Its bone stock for now, but in due time I will have something done to it. I never keep my cars stock . I've owned a few cars over the years. An 88 Civic HB (my first), a 90 Civic HB (race car), and a 94 Prelude VTEC. Of course the CL is my favorite, but I've got love for all of them. I don't have any pictures of it yet, but I am going to wash it and then take a few.

Welcome bro, its a pretty tight crew here, these guys know everything, I think between us all we could build a CL from scratch.

Welcome. Lots of knowledgeable people here. Don't forget to search in case your questions have been answered before. That is quite a few cars under your belt already! Post pics of that race car if you have them. What kind of #'s were you running with it?

Thanks guys. The race car has yet to be completed. I'm shooting for low 12's high 11's all motor with it.

I don't have too much planned for the CL right now. I know I need to upgrade the stereo system. I'd love to do a carputer but that may be a bit pricey right now. My first upgrade however will be a new shift knob and tires.

Nice pick up, 55K on a 2003 is pretty low. My advice for a 1st mod would be headers, they make a world of difference on the CL. As a 6MT, you have 2 choices XSPower or Comptech.

Enjoy and Welcome.

Headers are definately on my list, right next to an intake. I'd love to get a set of CT headers but thats alot of $$$$, unless I can find a used set.

Get headers first! They will give you about 15-30whp and a more sound then a CAI which will give you about 7whp.

You can buy XS Power Headers for $120+ shipping. You will also want to buy new 10mmx40mm bolts, 10mm nuts, and 10mm washers grade 8 or higher which is about $10. Installation is free if you do it yourself otherwise count on $150-200

You can buy the headers here:

I'm running the XS power ($97 shipped) and couldn't be happier with them. Comptechs are higher quality, but not worth the extra scratch IMO.

XSPower headers will cost 1/3 to 1/2 of what an intake costs and will yeild 2-3x the power.

Dammit. Now that you guys gave me links I'm gonna start spending money again. I promised I wouldn't do it. Oh well, you only live once, why not enjoy it!

I'm thoroughly suprised that this car gets better gas mileage than my Prelude did. I doubt it will come close to my Civic (36mpg while beating the everliving shit out of it), but it is still quite impressive.

black label - Where did you get the headers for $97 shipped?

Will they bolt directly up to the stock exhaust system?

from ssautochrome...the price has gone up though. But it's still only $120+ shipping!

You will want to use the OEM gaskets...do not use the gaskets that come with the headers! Also do not use the bolts/nuts/washers that come with the headers.

The headers are a direct bolt on...

Ok. Ill probably pick them up within the next week.

I already started another thread, but my valves seem to be pretty noisy. Is that normal with this motor?
